Every visit to Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal (formerly known as The Resort at Pedregal) begins with a hint of mystery and privilege as guests leave bustling Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to enter a gated tunnel carved into Pedregal Mountain. A thousand feet later, the torch-lit corridor opens to reveal a hidden cove bathed in brilliant sunshine.
Just 119 guest rooms, suites, and villas share the view of sparkling beach and Pacific Ocean off the tip of the Baja Peninsula, joined by a reception courtyard, four pools, newly enhanced Waldorf Astoria Spa and fitness center, meeting facilities, and four fine-dining and casual restaurants.
Every accommodation comes with five-star luxury and more — an ocean-view terrace, private plunge pool, fireplace, up to four bedrooms, and even binoculars for whale watching. The service, setting, and familial atmosphere lead most guests to stay onsite the whole visit. Some do go for short strolls, bike rides, or golf-cart jaunts into town; adventures on land or sea; or golf at more than a dozen courses in the area.
Like the restaurants, including the acclaimed El Farallon, an oceanfront hideaway tucked away in the cliffs, most catered affairs draw from Mexico’s rich culinary heritage for their farm- and sea-to-table menus. For groups intent on meeting in paradise, the resort provides space for up to 80 participants or 40 each in two separate rooms. Afterward, they might head to the cliffside Champagne Terrace to toast the productive day and stunning views.
