Waldorf Astoria Chicago Voted #1 Hotel in U.S. for Second Year in a Row in Conde Nast Traveler’s 25th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards
Posted October 17, 2012
CHICAGO, Ill. – October 17, 2012 – The Waldorf Astoria Chicago has once again earned the highest score out of all United States hotels in the prestigious 2012 Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Thousands of properties across the world were evaluated by Conde Nast Traveler readers and a record 46,476 individuals voted.

The hotel awards are based on readers’ ratings of the quality of rooms, service, food/dining, location, and overall design. The Waldorf Astoria Chicago received an overall score of 97.9 out of 100, ranking it at the top of the U.S. hotels list and #12 worldwide.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the readers of Conde Nast Traveler two years in a row,” said Rick Evanich, General Manager. “Throughout our transition from the Elysian to The Waldorf Astoria Chicago, our staff has continued to provide intuitive, personal service while creating memorable moments for our guests. We are most appreciative of our staff’s ongoing dedication and the loyalty of our guests, to which we owe this award.”

Located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, just steps off of Magnificent Mile, the Waldorf Astoria Chicago comprises the hotel, 51 private residences, restaurants, a spa, and event and meeting rooms. The building, which was designed by renowned architect Lucien Lagrange, features a richly detailed exterior and European courtyard reminiscent of the grand hotels of the 1920’s, while the interiors embrace a sophisticated, urban sensibility. The hotel features 188 spacious guestrooms and suites boasting elegantly modern furnishings, fireplaces and marble bathrooms with soaking tubs. The Waldorf Astoria Chicago is also home to Balsan, a contemporary bistro showcasing refined, yet rustic fare, and Bernard’s, the hotel’s plush bar. The Elysian Spa & Health Club, which spans more than 14,000 square feet, offers a wide-ranging menu of personalized services as well as a mosaic-tiled lap pool, gyrotonic studio, whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms. The compilation is an amenity-rich environment for the most discerning of guests.
