One of California’s Most Distinguished Wedding Locations Offers
Endless Memories Year-Round

HALF MOON BAY, Calif. (March XX, 2017) – Perched atop a rugged bluff overlooking 50 miles of pristine California coastline, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay – located 30 minutes south of San Francisco – is the ultimate setting for luxury destination weddings year-round. From springtime affairs that embrace the rich, coastal bounty, to outdoor weddings in the summer complete with surfboard photo shoots, to vibrant fall celebrations among the colorful foliage, to cozy winter escapes, the majestic coastal retreat offers memorable nuptials for every couple, no matter the season.

Springtime Coastal Brunch 2.0
The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay invites couples to take in the Northern California coast’s springtime beauty with a bespoke “Bloody Mary & Bubbly on the Bluff” offering: a twist on the traditional “Morning After” brunch ritual. A perfect continuation of the preceding day’s grand affair on the Ocean Lawn, the resort composes a custom Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar on its iconic bluff where guests can hand-craft their own libations while enjoying breathtaking ocean views. The bar features a selection of premium spirits and bubbly, fresh-squeezed juices, and locally purveyed ingredients and garnishes along with gourmet bites made with items from California. Those wishing to extend festivities into the late afternoon or early evening are invited to gather around one of the resort’s signature fire pits on the Ocean Terrace to watch the famous California sunset. Soothing melodies from the resort’s Sunset Bagpiper and homemade s’mores around the fire cap off the delicious post-wedding experience.

Summer Adventures on the Coast
With the stunning California coastline as its backyard, active and adventurous couples alike can take advantage of the infinite outdoor adventures that await just steps away from the resort. From surfing and paddle boarding the world-renowned waves in Half Moon Bay, to biking the iconic Coastal Trail, to golfing at Half Moon Bay Golf Links, the resort can arrange a bevy of pre- or post- nuptial activities to add extra excitement to the wedding experience. For surfing fanatics, the resort can facilitate an exclusive photo shoot of the wedding party in the ocean on surfboards (wearing wet suits or wedding attire) for a whimsical memory of their coastal destination wedding.

Fall in Love with Fall
Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons of year in Half Moon Bay – known as the Pumpkin Capital of the World – and with colorful foliage boasting vibrant hues and harvest in full swing, it sets the stage for some of the most picturesque destination weddings. Couples who tie the knot at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay may opt to indulge in a pumpkin-inspired tasting menu from Navio Chef Jason Pringle at their reception, made exclusively for their special day. The resort’s expert mixologists can also create original cocktails for the wedding using pumpkin and other fresh locally sourced fall ingredients. Following the big day, guests can embark on excursions to local purveyors such as Harley Farms Goat Dairy – from which the resort purchases many of its ingredients – to fully embrace the autumnal beauty that surrounds the resort.

Winter Escape with Fire & Wine
The mild winter weather in Northern California offers an exceptional backdrop for couples seeking a cozy winter wedding but prefer to avoid the snow. The Observatory Room – The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay’s premier intimate reception venue, accommodating up to 60 guests – is uniquely octagonal-shaped and boasts nearly 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, offering the perfect vantage point to watch the famous California winter sunsets (accommodates up to 60 guests). In addition, couples who wed in the winter can take advantage of what the resort does exceptionally well: fire and wine on the coast. The resort’s sommelier can pour a custom tasting of reserve wines from the nearby Santa Cruz Mountains – which are said to rival top wines in Napa and Sonoma – while guests gather around one of the fire pits overlooking the ocean. Luxurious spa treatments – such as the signature Redwood Forest Ritual featuring indigenous earthy herbs and wood blends – are also available at The Ritz-Carlton Spa to luxuriate before the big day. A co-ed whirlpool and fireplace along with ladies and gentlemen sauna and steam rooms further elevate the winter retreat experience.

The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay Completes Guestroom Renovations and Enhancements
Posted May 15, 2015
HALF MOON BAY, CALIF. – May 6, 2015 – Infusing a fresh, comfortable elegance into its interiors, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay – the San Francisco Bay Area’s only luxury oceanfront resort – has completed an extensive refurbishment of its 261 guestrooms, Guest House rooms and Guest House luxury suites.

The redesign and renovation project includes the enhancement of all of the rooms and suites in the private Guest Houses and the standard guest rooms and one-bedroom suites in the resort’s main building.

Inspired by the cool tones of grey and blue from the neighboring Pacific Ocean, mixed with beachside accents such as pickled wood entry floors and driftwood inspired night stands, the enhanced guestrooms radiate a sense of a California coastal estate.

The journey begins in the guestroom corridors with ocean colors and muted orange hues that are found in a patterned carpet reminiscent of kelp mixed with a mid-century graphics. The spacious accommodations welcome guests with lined-in paneled walls painted in a crisp white finish. Plush draperies and rich carpeting surround the room in cool grey and blue muted hues. Improved technology is featured throughout the guestroom including multiple plugs for powering any device, and generous built-in storage encases the HDTV, laptop safe and hanging closet and drawers.

The end result is an atmosphere of understated, timeless elegance reflecting the tranquil beauty of the Pacific Ocean and Northern California coastline.

For an added level of luxury, The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge was also enhanced. Located on the fifth floor with stunning views on the Ocean Lawn and the Pacific coastline, a separation wall in the lounge was removed to open the space up and provide more direct views of the ocean. The feature fireplace wall had an artistic treatment of etched glass added to allow for increased visibility and impact. Unique lighting and more tones of grey and blue reminiscent of the ocean waves create a relaxed atmosphere. Substantial hard woods, plush carpets and mid-century styled accent furnishings offer guests generous seating areas.

Surf’s Up At The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay
Posted March 2, 2015
Half Moon Bay, Calif. – March 2, 2015 – A new workout program, SURFSET, launches this summer at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. Guests staying at the coastal resort, located just south of Mavericks, the famous surf spot where waves can crest at more than 25 feet and top out at 80 feet during the winter months, can enjoy the physical benefits of surfing without battling big waves.

SURFSET is all about getting away from the traditional static workout and challenging the body in new ways. Every exercise on the SURFSET board is designed to engage the core and stabilizer muscles and shock the system to create real change inside and out, giving a lean surfer look to the body. Paddling a surfboard builds shoulder definition, strengthens the lower back muscles and increases cardiovascular fitness. Duck-diving through waves builds arm strength. The pop-up maneuver engages the core and pectoral muscles and helps build explosive power. The process of standing and riding a wave increases leg strength, flexibility and engages all of the postural muscles.

SURFSET is offered to resort guests every Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The class is presented outside on the bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, creating even more of a surf-style experience. Participation in the group class is included in the daily resort fee and private sessions are available for $130 per hour.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa offers a lavish setting to indulge in relaxation and rejuvenation. The Spa features 16 treatment rooms, including two couples rooms and three facial rooms, as well as a co-ed Roman mineral bath. Guests can enjoy signature face and body treatments, including the Pumpkin Body Peel, inspired by Half Moon Bay’s location in the ‘Pumpkin Capital of the World.’
