A short walk away from the White House, National Mall, monuments, Smithsonian museums, and Embassy Row, The Madison places guests in a prime position for appreciating the best of Washington, D.C. At the same time, the hotel provides a worthy destination in its own right, a classic country house hotel in the capital—one with sophisticated meeting facilities and thoughtful amenities designed to heighten productivity.
Fresh from a two-year, $20 million renovation, the hotel offers a glamorous bi-level ballroom and ten meeting rooms—space for up to 300 people in a total of 12,000 square feet. A business center and helpful in-room amenities like oversized work desks, ergonomic chairs, iPod stations, and complimentary Wi-Fi keep business groups at the top of their game. The 356 guest rooms and suites also layer on the comforts, everything from thick terry bath sheets to supremely soft bed linens, C.O. Bigelow grooming products, and gourmet coffee.
Delegates seeking rest and relaxation on-site can frequent the Lobby Bar or PostScript cafe, opting for indoor or sidewalk seating. They can also call for in-room spa services or work out at the 24-hour fitness center. A Washington favorite since President John F. Kennedy attended opening day in 1963, The Madison abides as a first choice for world leaders, diplomats, entertainers, and A-list groups of all kinds meeting in one of the world’s great power centers.

I did two small meetings at this hotel last summer. I am not familiar with the Loews brand so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised! The guest room product is comfortably appointed, and function space is fine for a small meeting. Banquet staff knows what they are doing. Lobby is a little dark and low-ceilinged for my taste, but it's not a deal-breaker.

The D.C. Madison has been beautifully remodeled. However, some of the sleep rooms are quite small - it is an older facility with no space for expansion. The meeting rooms are also somewhat small and we ended up crowded. The Conference food was better than ok but not exceptional. In general the staff was professional and capable. The location is perfect - on the hill - in walking distance of many attractions. Only about 20 minutes from Regan airport.
I had multiple issues as I added rooming reservations to our group list. This occurred after Loews took over. Everything was fine until then. There was a good bit of staff turnover and I also had to deal with the Loews registration center. The people there had no idea of my contract with the Madison which was signed in November of the previous year - our meeting was in June. Our pre and post rooming guests were to submit a credit card and when they tried to do so, were turned down time and time again. Our guests were to pay for rooming upgrades for the nights provided by our company. That was completely ignored when they checked out and was refused when our guests insisted they were to pay for it. So, I have had to request payment from our clients which is not something I wanted to do.
A few of our guests had issues with their rooms. Their room was assigned to someone else and they walked into their room. They were also locked out of their room prior to the checkout deadline. Others had difficulty checking in when they clearly had a reservation. On the other hand the desk gave rooms to people who said they had a reservation when I had reserved rooming for them at a different facility. I did no know about this until I received the final statement.
A nice facility, great location and hopefully if the Loews will just leave them alone and let the Madison care for their guests, a good facility for groups of 100 or less.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Staff was very accommodating, from sales team, conference and catering staff to front desk. I would highly recommend this hotel in DC.
