Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Four blocks north of the White House, the posh Jefferson hotel underwent a three-year makeover before reopening a decade ago. The lobby’s high arched skylight, which dates back to the 1920s, was restored, and the new décor throughout celebrates the life and times of Thomas Jefferson. For instance, a mini gallery in the lobby displays authentic documents bearing Jefferson’s signature, and many of the 99 guest rooms and suites mirror the colors and furniture found at Monticello, the founding father’s beloved Virginia home.
Rich in authentic detail, the hotel invites small groups to meet in the Book Room, inspired by Jefferson’s love of literature, or the Gallatin Room, which can be divided into two rooms, providing flexibility for various setups, dinners, and receptions for up to 80 attendees. Group dining shines with the help of the chefs behind Plume, the hotel’s Michelin-starred eatery — the only Forbes Five-Star restaurant in the nation’s capital. Other options include The Greenhouse for breakfast, lunch, and brunch and Quill, an upscale lounge for cocktails and contemporary comfort food.
Alternatively, after long days of meetings or seeing the sights, group members may want to retire to their rooms, which offer comfortable, refined furnishings worthy of any VIP. In-room dining is available 24 hours a day and includes sommelier-curated wines by the bottle or glass.
