Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
The Garland boasts a colorful history and iconic presence in its North Hollywood, California, community. Built in 1972 for the popular actress and hotelier Beverly Garland—and still owned by the family—its roots in show business go back to the days of Gene Autry, who previously owned the property.
Today a true urban oasis, its seven tree-shaded acres lie just minutes from the original
Brady Bunch house and many of Hollywood’s most popular attractions. A complimentary trolley ferries guests between the hotel, Universal Studios Hollywood, and the Metro Red Line station—just five minutes away.
In the summer of 2015, The Garland marked completion of a multiphase, $20-million modernization and upgrade. Today’s guests find 243 newly renovated guest rooms and 14 gracious suites, transformed public spaces, and The Front Yard, a new local, seasonal, chef-driven restaurant. For meetings, planners have a wide choice of spaces for groups of 12 to 650 people. Options include the Garland Ballroom, Beverly Garland Theatre, and a new outdoor site called Beverly Park.
Garland, the actress, appeared in everything from the classic film noir D.O.A. to the TV sitcom My Three Sons. For decades she switched careers daily from Hollywood actress to hands-on hotelier—with grace and seeming ease. Today, the hotel that bears her name still puts the premium on quality, versatility, and professionalism while upholding its founder’s mantra: “It’s the personal touch that counts.”
