Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
A member of Historic Hotels of America, the Thayer Hotel crowns a hilltop on the grounds of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. Named for Sylvanus Thayer, class of 1808, the hotel traces its origins to 1829. Past guest lists read like a who's who of history with names like Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, Edgar Allan Poe, James Whistler, and Douglas MacArthur.
After several major renovations over the years, today's hotel provides 151 guest rooms, three restaurants, a fitness center, and ten state-of-the-art meeting rooms—many with inspiring views of the Hudson River through ornate Gothic windows. Backed by impeccable service, the venues host everything from small presentations to company-wide conferences, banquets, and large-scale conventions. Meetings technology, team building, and leadership retreats represent the cutting edge in their fields.
