MGM Resorts Announces Development Plans For 5,000-Seat Theater at Monte Carlo
Blue Man Group Returns to Luxor, Its Original Las Vegas Home;
Jabbawockeez to Move to MGM Grand, Where it Debuted in 2010

LAS VEGAS (July 15, 2015) – MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM), one of the world’s leading presenters of live entertainment, today announced plans for an approximately 5,000-seat theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. The new concert venue will amplify the vibrant entertainment district taking shape on the west side of the Las Vegas Strip with a robust calendar featuring special engagements by many of the music industry’s most-celebrated performers.
With more than 7 million entertainment tickets sold in 2014 alone, MGM Resorts’ offerings are unrivaled. The Company owns and operates two arenas; two Las Vegas Strip festival lots (62 acres); seven theaters housing Cirque du Soleil production shows; 14 theaters for concerts, headliners and comedy performances; and more than two dozen lounges and nightclubs. Additionally, it is currently developing a new world-class Las Vegas arena as well as integrated resort projects in Macau and National Harbor, Maryland, each of which will feature entertainment venues as central amenities.
“From Las Vegas to Maryland, Macau to Massachusetts, presenting the biggest and most sought-after names in music, sports and special events is a core focus for MGM Resorts. This new theater will enable us to host performers in Las Vegas who we previously haven’t had a home for, broadening our entertainment offerings and providing the opportunity to expand those relationships to our properties around the globe,” said Bill Hornbuckle, President, MGM Resorts International.
Adjacent to The Park and 20,000-seat arena currently under construction on Las Vegas Blvd. between Monte Carlo and New York-New York, the theater will anchor the dynamic new entertainment district currently taking shape. While The Park and Arena are expected to open in April 2016, the Monte Carlo theater is projected to welcome its first act at the end of 2016. Unique to the market, the theater will offer dynamic seating that allows for easy transformation into multiple configurations, reflecting the flexibility of the space.
The development of this new theater at Monte Carlo creates opportunities for two beloved shows within the MGM Resorts family to get back to their roots, returning to the properties where they first wowed Las Vegas audiences:
Blue Man Group
Blue Man Group will move to Luxor this fall, returning to the property where they initially took Las Vegas by storm. The new venue, currently home to Jabbawockeez, will allow Blue Man Group the ability to transform its production into a custom entertainment experience built for maximum impact, with the action and spectacle closer than ever before.
“We have a strong affection for Luxor and are thrilled to return to this one-of-a-kind property,” said Phil Stanton, Blue Man Group Co-Founder. “We always embrace the opportunity to update and reimagine our show. At Luxor, we’ll have the ideal theater perfect for a completely immersive, multi-sensory experience. We plan to bring the intimacy of our New York City show and the spectacle of Las Vegas to our new home at Luxor.”
Hornbuckle said, “There are some things you just know are right, and Blue Man Group coming home to Luxor is a great win for us.”
Jabbawockeez will take its dynamic mix of jaw-dropping choreography, music and special effects to MGM Grand, the city’s nightlife and entertainment leader. They will perform in the newly renovated theater currently occupied by Beacher's Madhouse, where legendary Vegas showman Jeff Beacher will continue to bring his outrageous and over the top Beacher's Madhouse shows every Saturday night.
“We’re honored to be heading back to MGM Grand – it’s a really special place for us. What began as a limited engagement has grown into an incredible experience headlining on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Jabbawockeez CEO and Co-Founder Phil Tayag. “The energy there is reaching new heights and we plan on playing off that vibe and taking things to a whole new level for our fans.”
Scott Sibella, President and COO of MGM Grand, said, “We’re thrilled to bring Jabbawockeez home to MGM Grand, where they launched in Las Vegas in 2010. Their unparalleled energy and style are a perfect complement to MGM’s renowned nightlife scene. Coupling that with the raw fun and craziness of Beacher's Madhouse, the entertainment scene at MGM Grand will be off the charts.”

Renowned Chefs to Honor Monte Carlo's Andrew Rochat for 35th Anniversary in Las Vegas Sunday, March 29
Posted February 9, 2015
Chefs from Rochat's Illustrious Career to Create One-Night Only Menu with Proceeds to Benefit the James Beard Foundation
LAS VEGAS (February 2015) – Legendary Las Vegas chef André Rochat will be honored by his past and present peers and protégés Sunday, March 29 at Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. Rochat, who is celebrating 35 years in Las Vegas in 2015, will host the evening as a team of chefs create a one-night only menu that will feature exquisite culinary creations. The dishes, selected to acknowledge and honor Chef Andre, will showcase the talents of each chef. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Ticket proceeds from the event will benefit the James Beard Foundation (JBF), the world’s foremost culinary nonprofit organization.

Tickets are priced at $225 per person for JBF members; $275 per person for non-members (inclusive of tax and gratuity). Seating will be limited to 120 guests. For reservations or more information, visit Andre's online or call the restaurant directly at (702) 798-7151.

In 1980, French-born Rochat changed the face of Las Vegas’ dining industry, introducing the city to its first freestanding fine dining experience. Decades before the Fremont Street Experience and Zappos arrived, Downtown Las Vegas belonged to Rochat. That was then he purchased a 1930s-era house downtown and transformed it into his eponymous restaurant. Andre’s in Downtown Las Vegas featured dining rooms named after French cities, along with copper pots used as light fixtures and wine labels framed as art creating the ambience of a French country inn. As the only freestanding gourmet option at the time, Andre’s quickly became a hit with locals looking for a place to celebrate a special night out and visitors willing to travel a few miles via taxicab to the must-see restaurant. The restaurant made such an impact, the city of Las Vegas honored Rochat for his contribution to the community by renaming the street, formerly known as Lewis Place, to Chef André Rochat Place. In 1997, Rochat opened a second location on The Strip, Andre’s Restaurant and Lounge at Monte Carlo. By 2001, he opened Alizé at the Top of Palms Casino Resort. In 2008 and 2009, both Alizé and Andre’s were recognized by the Michelin Guide with the one-star rating.

From Master Sommelier Steven Geddes to Greg Engelhardt to Eric Patterson, they all credit Rochat with serving as a mentor over the last 35 years. Even within his own kitchen, those positioned to take Rochat’s culinary fare into the next 35 years can each pinpoint the techniques he has personally taught them.

“Where else can you find a chef of Andre’s caliber taking the time and effort to make sure his legacy continues? Today, there are so many establishments that focus on the newest and the best. But with Andre, trends are fine but what matters most is skill and tradition – and that is the core of what he has instilled in all of us,” says Mark Purdy, Chef de Cuisine, Alizé.

Chefs scheduled to create dishes and be in attendance for the evening include:
Host Chef, Chris Bulen: Current Chef de Cuisine at Andre's Restaurant & Lounge.
Chef Greg Engelhardt: Former Chef de Cuisine at Andre's in Downtown, current owner of Off-the-Grid Caribbean Catering in St. Thomas.
Chef Gary LaMorte: Former Chef de Cuisine at Andre's Restaurant & Lounge, current corporate executive chef for the Michael Mina Group.
Chef Florian Wherli: Former Chef de Cuisine at Andre's in Downtown, current executive chef at Triomphe Restaurant in New York.
Chef Eric Patterson: Former Chef de Cuisine at Andre's in Downtown, current chef/owner at The Cooks House in Traverse City, MI.
Chef Arnaud Masset: Former sous chef at Andre’s in Downtown and Alizé, current executive chef at Palms Casino Resort.
Chef Heather Zheng: Former sous chef at Andre’s in Downtown, current executive chef Shibuya at MGM Grand.
Chef Mark Purdy: Current Chef de Cuisine at Alizé at the Top of Palms Casino Resort.
Chef Tammy Alana: Current Executive Pastry Chef for Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge and Alizé.
Chef Johnny Church: Former sous chef at Alizé and Andre’s Restaurant and Lounge, current chef/owner of MTO Café, Las Vegas.
Chef Josh Smith: Former chef at Alizé, current Executive Chef at Michael Mina’s BARDOT Brasserie at ARIA.
Chef Chris Herrin: former Pastry Chef Andre’s and Alizé, Current President of CH Hospitality Group in Seattle, WA
Chef Scott Sampson: former Chef Andre’s Downtown, currently chef/owner of Scotty’s Kitchen in Las Vegas
Chef Les Goodman: Former sous chef of Andre’s at Downtown and Andre’s Restaurant & Bar, current chef in Adafina, Calif.
The James Beard Foundation was selected as recipient of the evening’s proceeds as a result of Andre's relationship with the organization that spans more than 30 years. Through the Jean Louis Palladin and friends of James Beard Foundation, Andre has raised more than $200,000 towards scholarships for aspiring young Chefs, apprentices and future food and beverage professionals.

Celebrating his 35th anniversary in Las Vegas, André Rochat has enhanced his AAA Four Diamond restaurant by combining its original old-world charm with a modern twist to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. An eclectic approach on a classic, Andre’s meshes the finest style of dining with a comfortable, elegant setting. In addition to dining in casual elegance, Andre’s is home to an impressive cigar lounge, one of the only spaces on the Las Vegas Strip available to enjoy a fine cigar and rare cognac from his internationally famous collection. Honored with a prestigious Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator, Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge at Monte Carlo has an encyclopedic wine list boasting more than 1,500 selections and an inventory of more than 12,000 bottles. Founding Partners, Including Hershey’s, Shake Shack and sbe, Join Project Anchored by Arena to be Developed in Conjunction with AEG
LAS VEGAS – April 18, 2013 – MGM Resorts International unveiled details today about the
experience it is creating in Las Vegas surrounding the world-class 20,000-seat arena under development in partnership with renowned sports, entertainment and facilities organization AEG. Plans include new Stripside experiences at New York-New York and Monte Carlo resorts and a public park leading to the new state-of-the-art arena. The Company also announced details about the team who will bring this robust new experience to fruition.

For centuries, plazas, squares and grand boulevards have served as important gathering places where people take in the sights, sounds and flavors of great cities. Enlivening one of the city’s most exciting intersections, MGM Resorts will create an experience that encourages social interaction and one of Las Vegas’ best-known pastimes – people-watching.

Providing opportunities for visitors to enjoy Las Vegas outdoors, this vibrant plaza will connect New York-New York and Monte Carlo as well as the newly announced arena on land behind the resorts. Construction will begin on the outdoor experiences at New York-New York and Monte Carlo in the coming weeks, with anticipated completion in early 2014.

Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International, said, “All great cities offer
vibrant pedestrian experiences, and Las Vegas is certainly no exception, as The Strip is one of the world’s greatest boulevards. Our vision is to extend the excitement we traditionally create within our world-class resorts outside onto The Strip, and ultimately in an entertainment district leading to our new arena. To bring that vision to fruition, we have assembled a team recognized around the world for creating special venues and places.”

The front facades of New York-New York and Monte Carlo will be transformed into an outdoor plaza experience featuring a series of casual bars, eateries and retail destinations. New York-New York will modify its skyline and Brooklyn Bridge to create a wonderful environment brought to life through a vibrant patio culture and retailers new to the market. Anchoring the new experience will be Hershey’s Chocolate World™ flagship store, a two-story interactive, experiential destination that celebrates the incredible array of Hershey's-branded products that inspire the "Hershey's Happiness" mantra. Additionally, the hotel’s Irish pub, Nine Fine Irishmen, will be enhanced, including an expansion of its high-energy patio culture both on the casino floor and the Brooklyn Bridge.

At Monte Carlo, the current formal European-style exterior features will be removed to make
way for new partners, including Double Barrel, a casual roadhouse restaurant and bar concept by the leading hospitality experts at sbe; Sambalatte, the art of sipping found in the ultimate coffee experience, beloved by Las Vegas locals, and soon available to visitors; and 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, serving build-your-own personal pizzas prepared to each guest’s liking and baked in around a minute in an 800-degree wood-burning oven, right before their eyes
Between the two properties and leading back to the Company’s new arena will be a park
environment featuring dining pavilions and performance spaces complemented by areas for quiet relaxation. At the gateway to the park will be Shake Shack, a modern day “roadside” burger stand known for its all-natural burgers, flat-top dogs, frozen custard, beer, wine and more by restaurateur Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group.

Additional partners and details surrounding both properties and the park will be announced in the coming months.

Four MGM Resorts International Properties Awarded Highest Green Key Meetings Rating
Posted November 14, 2012
Elite recognition in sustainable hotel operations
LAS VEGAS - Nov. 14, 2012 - Green Key Global, the largest international certification body evaluating sustainable hotel operations, has awarded the prestigious “5 Green Keys" rating to four MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) properties for its Green Key Meetings Program, including Bellagio Resort & Casino, ARIA Resort & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and MGM Grand Las Vegas. The four MGM resorts are the first in the United States to receive "5 Green Keys" for meetings, and among an elite group of only six total in North America.

MGM Resorts remains one of the most productive meeting and convention destinations in the world, offering award-wining experiences throughout its three million square feet of meeting and convention space. In addition, each of the 11 MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas as well as Reno and in Tunica and Biloxi, Mississippi and in Detroit, Michigan has taken substantial steps in their commitment to sustainability.

“Green Advantage is MGM Resorts International’s platform to ensure that environmentally-conscious decisions are at the forefront of our business operations and facilities. We are pleased to have earned the five-key distinction from Green Key Global, validating the significant efforts of our team to build a world class green meeting program,” said Cindy Ortega, Senior Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer.

The designation of 5 Keys is awarded to hotels that exemplify the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility in relation to their meetings and convention facilities and practices.

“Now, more than ever, the Meeting Planner community is seeking innovative, sustainable solutions when hosting their events,” said Michael Dominguez, Senior Vice President of Sales for MGM Resorts International. “As this is an integral part of the meeting planner organization's objectives, we are extremely proud to be a solution provider meeting environmental expectations while still providing world-class, award-winning service,” Dominguez added.

Green Key Meetings is a comprehensive assessment tool for eco-friendly resorts and hotels that hold meetings of any size. It is designed to provide Travel, Meeting and Conference Planners with a sense of a hotel’s level of commitment to environment issues. Overall, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program has more than 2,850 member hotels and is the foremost “green” ranking and audit program in North America.

“As the first U.S. chain to introduce the Green Key Meetings Program to its portfolio, MGM Resorts has demonstrated that practicing environmental stewardship need not affect the quality of an event but can, in fact, enhance its success,” said Tony Pollard, Managing Director of Green Key Global. “That these four Las Vegas properties have all achieved the highest rating is a testament to their dedication to sustainability within all aspects of their operations.”

Green Key Meetings ranks venues on a level of 1 to 5 keys, with 5 being the highest ranking. Keys are awarded based on how properties perform in six conference and meeting areas: Core Areas (carbon, energy, water, waste, air quality), Communication (information, training), Activities (purchasing, auditing, community), People (health), Exhibitions, and Audio/Visual. The Green Key Meetings properties and rankings are listed at

MGM Resorts’ approach to sustainability focuses on five core areas - natural resources conservation, sustainable construction and renovation, waste management, sustainable supply chain and education and communication. This strategic framework of raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability forms the company's sustainability platform, called Green Advantage. Green Advantage is fundamentally changing the way MGM Resorts, its properties and its 62,000 employees do business.

The Meeting and Convention spaces across MGM Resorts are extending the level of environmental commitment through substantial initiatives for implementing sustainable features. By example, meeting spaces are retrofitted with light sensors and energy efficient lighting and custom programs to deactivate heating, ventilation and air conditioning while spaces are not in use. Comprehensive recycling programs also divert 37.9 percent of all materials from landfills each year. Resorts also offer specialty menus featuring wide selections of organic, sustainable and Fair Trade products as well as additional options for meetings to reduce water consumption.
In 2011, MGM Resorts International was awarded 12 Green Key Hotel rankings for designation of green business operations. At the core of CityCenter, ARIA Resort & Casino was awarded LEED Gold certification for sustainable design and construction from the U.S. Green Building council.
