Paradise Point Named One of the Top Five Meeting Hotels in the World
Posted January 1, 2013
San Diego Tops List as Meetings Destination
Paradise Point, located on Mission Bay in San Diego, has won the coveted “Best Hotel Spaces” award from the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA).

The award, announced in PCMA’s August issue of Convene Magazine, was voted on by the magazine’s readers and editors. Among Paradise Point’s distinguished award recipients include the InterContinental San Francisco, The Peabody Orlando, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, and the Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel.

With the San Diego Convention Center placing in the top five in the “Best Food & Beverage” category and the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau for “Best Technology Tools”, San Diego reinforces its reputation as a top meeting destination as no other domestic or international city won as many overall awards.

With over 62,000 square feet of flexible waterfront meeting space, Paradise Point offers unique meeting venues including bay view ballrooms, spacious decks, and tropical gardens and lawns. Each setting is distinctive and reminiscent of a tropical island paradise.

“Paradise Point’s idyllic 44-acre island just 10 minutes from San Diego airport, its abundance of unique teambuilding opportunities and space, and waterfront ballrooms give planners a setting for meetings that stimulate, refresh, and inspire attendees, even after they’ve headed home,” said David Hall, general manager of Paradise Point.
David Hall Appointed General Manager of Paradise Point
Posted November 1, 2010
San Diego, CA - September 2010 - David Hall has been named general manager of Paradise Point Resort & Spa, the newest addition to Destination Hotels & Resorts' collection of luxury properties in Southern California. With more than 20 years of hospitality experience, Hall will oversee the 44-acre private island resort located in San Diego beginning this month. "Paradise Point holds a warm place in the hearts of so many. I am proud to be part of this San Diego treasure. I look forward to enriching the legacy of this great resort over the next several years," Hall said.
The industry leader most recently worked as general manager at InterContinental Chicago O'Hare, where he played a key role in the debut of the $200 million, 556-room development. Hall (pictured) played an integral role in designing and directing plans for the property's expansive art gallery, three restaurants and live entertainment venue. Under Hall's management, the hotel was ranked second in customer service of InterContinental North America during its first year of business.
Hall's extensive hospitality background has also assisted him in serving as general manager of Chicago City Centre Hotel, Westin Atlanta Airport, and Crowne Plaza's Atlanta Airport and Atlanta Northwest locations, totaling more than 15 years of experience in the position. Named "Hotelier of the Year" by the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association in 2001, he has also served on the Board of Directors for both the Chicago and Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureaus. "David has a proven track record in helping properties successfully build a creative and inspirational vision for long-term success," said Michael J. The resort first opened in 1962 with 150 guestrooms and has gone through a number of enhancements and expansions over the years. The master plan was approved in 1958 and included 30 miles of shoreline beaches, grassy knolls, areas for sailing, swimming, boating, SeaWorld and Paradise Point Resort & Spa.

Skirball envisioned a fantasy-island setting that would feature family vacationers as the cast. Today, guests can still see remnants of the property's Hollywood heyday such as the porpoise fountain from the movie Cleopatra that Skirball produced.
