Carrot Top – After touring the country with his renowned comedy show for more than 15 years, comedian Carrot Top is a permanent headliner at Luxor’s Atrium Showroom. With a knack for rock ‘n’ roll gadgets and in-your-face energy, Carrot Top’s super imaginative performances and outrageous style have made him a pop culture phenomenon. Known as a genius when it comes to inventive props, Carrot Top pokes fun at cultural icons, rednecks and more.

Menopause The Musical® – Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer and producer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “The Change.” From its first performance, the show has evolved as a “grass-roots” movement of women who deal with life after 40 and all the challenges that result in the mental, physical and spiritual freedom of the post-World War II baby boomer generation. This hilarious show has launched a women’s movement that has superseded entertainment, empowered its audiences and become a must-see event. Consisting of parodies from the classic songs of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, the show is filled with optimism, connection and laughter.

Steakhouse favorites such as Kobe, Wagyu and Black Angus are served alongside more exotic meats including Nilgai Antelope, Bison Short Ribs and Rocky Mountain Elk Chops. Complementing the menu is an equally innovative drink menu featuring classic cocktails and contemporary creations. Renowned designer Thomas Schoos created a comfortably modern atmosphere, while paying homage to the American West. Old reclaimed barn wood, Longhorn chandeliers and modern black and white photography of rustic, American landscapes give TENDER steak & seafood a distinctly western appeal.

T&T (Tacos & Tequila) – World-renowned restaurateur and chef Richard Sandoval teamed up with Alvarez + Brock Design to create this fun, energetic dining experience. The menu includes Sandoval’s unique presentation of traditional and modern Mexican cuisine and a drink program highlighted by an extensive list of tequila selections, specialty cocktails and infused tequilas. Five icons of Mexican culture – the sombrero, the shot glass, the bullfight, skeletons and seductive women – inspired the design concept. For a little added spice, guests may enjoy the Mariachi Brunch every Sunday, featuring zesty entrées, drink specials and live music.

Pyramid Café – This 24-hour café conveniently located on the casino floor features a full menu of salads, burgers, steaks and homemade pizzas along with around-the-clock breakfast specialties and comfort food such as Fajitas and Chicken Parmesan.

Casino
Luxor’s casino includes popular table games such as Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette, Pai Gow and Craps as well as the latest in slot machines, the Race & Sports Book and the Bruce Buffer Poker Room. Buffer, the popular voice of the UFC and an avid poker player, hosts a variety of tournaments, autograph signings and additional activities over the course of select UFC event weekends.

Luxor’s casino-floor design flows the water motif of the center bar Liquidity out onto the gaming floor with plush carpet, wall coverings, wave-patterned columns and alluring light fixtures, all in a varying color palette of cool blues, vibrant purples and plums. Custom-designed ergonomic slot bases and chairs provide a hip, contemporary look and feel, mirroring the dynamic energy of the distinct casino floor venues.

MGM Resorts Installs First Personal Electric Vehicle Charging Station On Las Vegas Strip
Posted July 8, 2011
MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) today debuted the Company’s first Electric Vehicle Charging Station and the first such facility on the Las Vegas Strip for environmentally conscious consumers driving the cleanest, most advanced vehicles on the road.

This new Charging Station is located at the valet entrance to The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, between Mandalay Bay and Luxor resorts. Charging service is available free of charge to retail and resort customers driving personal electric vehicles, like the Nissan LEAF and the Chevy Volt.

“This is a tremendous first for The Shoppes and our customers. We all share in our commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Brian Robison, Vice President & General Manager of The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. “To have the first public electric car charging station on the Strip is an honor for us and a convenience for our like-minded customers. We hope they get a real ‘charge’ out of shopping with us.”

To take advantage of this new amenity, drivers simply pull into one of the two specially designated parking spaces reserved exclusively for personal electric vehicles and plug into the easy-to-use PEP Station to charge their vehicle. Each station has a touch-screen interface that guides users through steps to safely charge their electric vehicle.

Two celebrities of the sustainability world were on hand to mark the occasion and assist with a debut of the charging facility.

-Chef Rick Moonen, best-selling author and one of the world’s leading advocates for the use of sustainable seafood in the food industry

-The Nissan LEAF, one of the most sought-after vehicles on the road today and, according to USA Today, the top-selling electric vehicle in the U.S. for the first six months of 2011

“I couldn’t be more proud that Mandalay Place is first with this forward-thinking program,” said Chef Moonen. “Someone has to take the leadership role and I’m happy MGM Resorts is willing to move toward a better way of doing things.”

Chef Moonen, known for his appearances on national television programs like Bravo’s “Top Chef,” also operates the two rm seafood restaurants inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place.

MGM Resorts energy experts say this is an important first step that reflects the Company’s continued commitment to environmental responsibility in the hospitality industry.

“Consumer demand for this type of equipment is just in its earliest stages, but like anything new, its growth must be fostered by those who believe in it most,” said Cindy Ortega, MGM Resorts Sr. Vice President of Energy and Environmental Services. “Now is the most important time for companies like MGM Resorts to show our support, so others - consumers, car manufacturers and rental car agencies - feel comfortable enough to enter this important emerging market.”
MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL EXPANDS MOBILE APP SERVICES TO GOOGLE'S ANDROID & RIM'S BLACKBERRY OPERATING SYSTEMS

Previously only available on iTunes, the expansion into additional operating systems allows MGM Resorts International to deliver new ways to explore its Las Vegas hotels and attractions for a broader customer base.

"We've created a dynamic new way to engage our guests with a convenient information and reservation system and the response on iTunes so far has been incredible with more than 200,000 downloads," said Scott Voeller, Vice President of Brand Strategy and Advertising for MGM Resorts. "The overwhelming popularity of Smartphones initially motivated us to create the apps for iPhones, but the opportunity to reach more guests with exclusive offers and content and also receive their direct feedback encouraged us to expand to Android and BlackBerry users."

Luxor Unlocks Green Key Certification
Posted January 20, 2011
Luxor is going green and getting recognized. By taking significant steps to reduce our environmental impact like using desert landscaping to conserve water, retrofitting lighting to reduce electricity use and introducing a recycling program, we are truly making a difference. All of the hard work has paid off with acknowledgement from the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, a program that certifies hotels based on green practices.

Luxor was recently awarded 4 out of 5 Keys, a rating that is recognized in guidebooks and on Web sites such as AAA, Travelocity and Expedia. Twelve MGM Resorts International properties pursued the certification and all became the first Green Key members in Nevada and Michigan.

Green Key member properties are listed at www.greenkeyglobal.com, a valuable resource for environmentally conscious travelers. Green Key rankings are recognized by major travel services including AAA, Travelocity and Expedia.
