Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
The InterContinental San Diego brought new sophistication to the city’s waterfront when it opened in August 2018. Guests of the sparkling new, 19-story high-rise find themselves steps away from the Embarcadero, where the USS Midway, Star of India, and other maritime legends are docked, in addition to several cruise ship ports. Views of the water accompany virtually every activity at the hotel, from check-in and private events to restaurant dining and relaxing in the 400 guest rooms and suites.
For business, the InterContinental provides 35,000 square feet of space indoors, plus an additional 60,000 square feet outside. The biggest room, the Pacific Ballroom, holds up to 1,500 people in its largest configuration. For pleasure, the hotel adds a fourth-floor sundeck, swimming pool, cabanas, pool bar, and 3,300-square-foot health and wellness center (with yoga terrace and video wall for on-demand workout classes), as well as a third-floor Club InterContinental lounge with concierge-level amenities and services.
Also on the third floor, two highly regarded San Diego chefs, Paul McCabe and Amy DiBiase, joined forces to create Vistal Bar + Restaurant, a united culinary vision fusing the best of seasonal California, the Baja peninsula, Pacific islands, and the Mediterranean. Guests can also meet for a quick coffee at Starbucks, steaks and seafood at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, and breathtaking sunsets from the rooftop bar.
