MIAMI, FL – July 2015 – The InterContinental Miami Hotel, downtown’s iconic bayside hotel, now makes it easy for guests interested in doing a little shopping while in South Florida with its new Miami Shopping Experience. It includes a nice little spending bonus too.
“Our guests are looking for a unique urban experience that puts them right in the middle of all that Miami has to offer including downtown, beaches, nightlife and of course, shopping,” said General Manager Robert Hill. “InterContinental Miami is perfectly positioned within the city’s urban core, providing convenient access to all of the nearby shopping malls and area attractions.”
The Miami Shopping Experience starts with personal concierge services to coordinate transportation to any of Miami’s top four malls including Dadeland, Aventura, Sawgrass and Dolphin Malls. The package also includes:
 A $50 Visa gift card for use at one of the four participating malls
 Complimentary daily breakfast for two at ¡Ole!
 A $50 credit toward dinner at the hotel’s award winning pan-Latin steakhouse, Toro Toro
Rates for the Miami Shopping Experience start at $189 per night. There is a three-night minimum to book and reservations must be made at least five days prior to check-in.

The downtown Miami hotel continues to excel as a top workplace, community partner and environmental steward
Long recognized as a leading institution within the Miami community,
InterContinental Miami has received several accolades recognizing the hotel’s outstanding work in the areas of community service, environmental efforts, and employee satisfaction and retention.
American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), the industry’s most respected hospitality organization, awarded InterContinental Miami for its “outstanding community service” in the large property category of their annual Stars of the Industry awards. Examples of the hotel’s community service programs include volunteering through organizations such as Feeding South Florida, the Chapman Partnership and Make-A-Wish South Florida.
The South Florida Sun Sentinel also named the hotel a Top Workplace for large employers in South Florida, based on hundreds of survey results. Employees cited the hotel’s benefits as a reason for their satisfaction with the hotel, which includes free on-site tax preparation, health fairs, discounted transportation, a citizenship program, and recognition and incentive initiatives.
“We take pride in being a responsible employer and community member, and are honored to be recognized as a leader in these categories both locally and nationally,” said Robert Hill, General Manager of the InterContinental Miami. "We feel it’s important to create an environment where employees feel respected, which in turn results in great service to our customers."
Miami Today, a leading business publication in South Florida, also honored the hotel with a Silver Medal for its environmental efforts, including being the largest purchaser of renewable energy credits in the state and using its Green Engage System to focus on sustainability.

Ranked Number One Meetings Hotel Among IHG Hotels
With Miami gaining ground as an international destination for high-profile meetings, InterContinental Miami is solidifying its position among North America’s premier venues for
major conferences and group events with an upgrade of its more than 100,000 square feet of meeting space.
As a follow up to its $30 million renovation in 2012, the iconic downtown hotel has added new furnishings and fixtures throughout all meetings areas and corridors, and expanded to 37 total meetings and banquet rooms. The new phase of upgrades will be continuing with the complete redesign and renovation of the hotel’s pool deck and outdoor reception area, scheduled to begin in late 2015.
“Miami’s rise as a desirable place to visit and conduct business has thrust major meetings and events activity to the forefront,” said InterContinental Miami’s General Manger Robert Hill. “We’re investing where it’s most important to our groups. Whether we’re hosting a small group or an industry conference drawing attendees from around the world, meeting planners can rest assure their clients and event attendees will appreciate our fresh space, in-house amenities, prime downtown Miami setting, and the high caliber of service our team provides everyday.”
Complementing the hotel’s upgrades, the hotel has also launched new Miami-centric breakout menus that highlight the destination’s Latin influence and culture. With classics such as cafficitos, Cuban sandwiches and tres leches dessert, guests can sample some of the City’s most well known Latin treats without leaving the hotel.
The 641-room InterContinental Miami – ranked number one among all InterContinental Hotel properties across North America in a recent MeetingScope survey - boasts 33 meetings rooms with more than 100,000 square feet of event space, including 4 spectacular ballrooms.
