Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
For meetings, nothing captures the style of New England’s blue-blooded aristocracy like the Hotel Viking in Newport, Rhode Island. Dating from 1926, the newly renovated five-story Georgian colonial–style hotel combines modern luxury with the warmth and charm of Newport’s Gilded Age.
The ten rooms for meetings and events total 14,000 square feet, which includes the versatile Viking Ballroom for up to 400 attendees and the newly renovated Bellevue Ballroom for up to 300. Whether gathered inside or in three seasonal outdoor venues, groups benefit from professional conference managers to oversee everything from meeting logistics to state-of-the-art audiovisual presentations, outdoor events, exhibits, and banquets.
At the hotel’s signature eatery, One Bellevue, Chef Barry Correia’s new menus complement the newly renovated dining room with a focus on stylish presentation, home-style shared dishes, and small plate offerings. Local seafood and other regional ingredients celebrate not only the seasons but also the culinary traditions of Narraganset Bay.
The sense of place continues in 208 accommodations, including 19 suites that showcase Newport’s Gilded Age with modern amenities. Last year’s renovation transformed the entire main level by opening the lobby to One Bellevue Lounge, and updating the restaurant and common areas. Renovations to lobby-level meeting space added the 432-square-foot Vanderbilt Room.
Even after 90 years, Hotel Viking remains an integral part of the Newport community, a prestigious gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
