Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Dating from 1887, Grand Hotel channels a gentler era—guests still dress for dinner, recline on Victorian-era rocking chairs, and travel by foot or bicycle, since no cars are permitted on Mackinac Island. The sprawling historic resort has hosted famous guests from Esther Williams, who performed in the hotel's swimming pool, to US presidents from Harry Truman to Bill Clinton. Significant renovations have added technological amenities to the hotel's original charms.
Grand Hotel's personal convention managers assist meeting planners in the organization of events at the Woodfill Conference Center, a multiroom facility where the Theatre and adjacent Brighton Pavilion host up to 750 guests. The fully staffed, hour-long Grand Cocktail Reception, popular with corporate groups, features champagne and wine, fresh fruit, smoked lake trout, and a range of gourmet cheeses.
