Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Costa Rica Marriott Hotel San José rises from a century-old, 30-acre coffee plantation outside the Costa Rican capital of San José. Although relatively new, the hotel captures the charm of a sixteenth-century colonial hacienda in everything from its classic archways to its polished terra cotta floors.
The ten-minute drive from the airport leads guests through Costa Rica’s Central Valley, past volcanic peaks and lush tropical vegetation. Beyond the driveway, history comes alive as echoes from the past
resonate through the lobby bar and restaurants, meeting space, and spa. Colonial motifs in the 299 guest rooms and suites belie such modern-day luxuries as posh bedding, Wi-Fi, and international cable TV.
The 17 meeting rooms total 12,000 square feet of flexible space, all served by expert planners, audiovisual technicians, and superb catering. The largest room, the Juan Vasquez de Coronado Ballroom, seats up to a thousand participants or breaks down into eight smaller configurations.
Between sessions, attendees can recharge their energy at two pools, the spa and fitness center, three tennis courts, a driving range, and five bars and restaurants. The dining options range from Costa Rican Creole cuisine at Hacienda Kitchen to sushi at La Castilla and Peruvian delicacies at La Isabela. Special rewards for a job well done include excursions to nearby volcano and rain forest national parks, where Costa Rica shows off its most precious signature assets
