Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Close to everything yet away from it all, Cavallo Point–the Lodge at the Golden Gate rests on 45 scenic acres in Golden Gate National Parks. Its location in historic Fort Baker, at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge, places it just minutes from San Francisco and Sausalito. Renovated to the highest standards of preservation and sustainability, Fort Baker, a former U.S. Army base, serves as an ideal setting for meetings of the mind.
This high-end retreat offers 142 guest rooms and suites—68 historic lodgings (formerly officers’ quarters) and 74 contemporary accommodations. All feature elegant, eco-friendly appointments, fine amenities, and views of the bridge, bay, city, or headlands.
A dedicated boardroom and historic ballroom highlight more than 14,000 square feet of adaptable meeting space. Indoor facilities in landmark buildings welcome groups of 10 to 200.
Business agendas take on added impact when combined with activities like hands-on baking lessons at the cooking school, yoga, meditation workshops, wine and cheese tastings, fireside chats with park service guides, kayaking together under the bridge—or biking over it. The lodge also offers a world-class Healing Arts Center & Spa, complete with meditation pool.
Group dining options feature local and organic ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. Groups may also experience the acclaimed Murray Circle restaurant, lively Farley Bar, and healthy tonics and light cuisine at the Spa Tea Bar. A stellar wine collection enhances menus with over 1,000 selections. Above all, Cavallo Point aims to leave its guests enriched, relaxed, and better connected with their colleagues, their environment, and themselves.

Cavallo Point was an absolutely beautiful location for our leadership team offsite. We had a group of roughly 12 people and spent two full days in the Surfbird meeting room. Our meeting room had an adjoining outdoor patio where we hosted our breakfast and lunch buffets. The view of the lawn and bay made this offsite relaxing and enjoyable despite the full agenda we had to cover. Though I should mention that our offsite was as successful as it was for a few main reasons:
1) We lucked out with the weather - Warm (low 70's), sunny, and a light breeze throughout our visit. This is uncommon for Sausalito, but made all the difference.
2) We spent much of the budget - We spent nearly $1800 per person on the entire trip, start to finish. This included all lodging, all food and beverage including a private dinner at Murray Circle, meeting room space, AV costs, private shuttle service, a private sailing trip on the bay. It was beautiful, but costly.
3) We opted to bring in an external vendor to host some team building exercises to fill our Day 2 activity since Yoga was not available this day at the resort as advertised.

I have done many programs here and in process of trying to buy it out. Great service and attitude. Unique property that everyone should experience. It is a gem!

Overall guest experience was positive due to the location, warm fall weather, views/skyline and history of the property. I rented hybrid bikes for our group to use during the meeting breaks and in the mornings for workouts. This was an excellent add-on due to trails and the Golden Gate bridge path. Attendees enjoyed having this as an option. Wi-FI in the guest rooms and meetings space was an issue which I believe may have been resolved. SWANK audio/visual is the onsite provider and were great partners for our presentations. Overall, I would recommend this property for smaller groups and social events. Not for mid to large corporate group.

Cavallo Point is a new property and a great surprise just over the Golden Gate Bridge. It is close to the city, yet you experience a feeling of being far away in a natural setting away from the hustle and bustle. Its newness and uniqueness make it the perfect place for a meeting. The staff is extremely service oriented and the food is off the charts. Everyone goes out of their way to make each guest feel special. The meeting space has wonderful natural lighting. I can't say enough positive things about Cavallo Point. Book fast before the rest of the world finds out about this jewel that will most likely get the 5 Diamond and 5 Star rating. If you can't book a meeting, treat yourself to a couple of nights and experience the award winning restaurant. You will leave feeling like a renewed person. I know that I did and many of my friends feel the same.
