AAA Five Diamond Resort Enhances Guest Experience with Redesigned Accommodations and New Suite Concept
LAS VEGAS (February 27, 2013) – Elevating the guest experience at one of the world’s most iconic resorts, Bellagio recently completed the remodel of all 928 rooms and suites in its Spa Tower.

Additionally, the resort introduced three new Executive Parlor Suites designed with entertainment and technology in mind. The 2,500-square-foot suites each feature a billiards lounge and separate high-tech home theater living area inviting guests to host intimate, yet interactive events in a vibrant setting.

“The completion of the Spa Tower remodel marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the Bellagio guest experience,” said Randy Morton, president and chief operating officer of Bellagio. “We continue to seek ways not only to create new experiences and fresh spaces, but also to maintain the superior Five Diamond service synonymous with Bellagio.”

Created by the talented MGM Resorts International Design Group, the new Spa Tower Resort Rooms are consistent with the three designs represented in Bellagio’s main tower. The Resort King Rooms feature an indigo and silver combination or a green tea and plum palette while the Resort Queen Rooms welcome guests with an amber and butterscotch motif.

In keeping with Bellagio’s commitment to sustainability, the newly remodeled Resort Rooms incorporate environmentally responsible elements, including energy-efficient lighting in corridors and guest rooms providing 60 percent greater efficiency; organic carpeting primarily made from wool and furniture made from eucalyptus, both renewable resources; a new double towel bar in the bathroom for increased ability to dry and reuse towels; and a 180 percent improvement in air circulation from the previous room.

In addition to 819 Resort King and Resort Queen guest rooms, the Spa Tower features a selection of more than 100 newly redesigned suites including a new class of 2,500-square-foot Executive Parlor Suites.

The Executive Parlor Suites provide a versatile space ideal for entertaining and socializing, while maintaining a sense of privacy and luxury. This suite features an open plan spotlighted by a billiards table with a dedicated media lounge adjacent to the main room. Certain to keep guests entertained, these suites offer a range of entertainment options including an Xbox® and Blu-ray Disc™ player and a one-touch Creston® remote system to seamlessly control all technology.

The $40 million Spa Tower remodel began in August 2012. This marks the conclusion of the hotel’s redesign of all 3,387 Resort Rooms which also included the recent $70 million Bellagio Tower remodel.

INGLENOOK AND CHEF JEAN-GEORGES VONGERICHTEN KICK OFF BELLAGIO’S 2013 EPICUREAN EPICENTER SERIES
Posted December 5, 2012
Historic California Wine Estate and Celebrated Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten will come together in Las Vegas at Bellagio’s Tuscany Kitchen Saturday, January 26
LAS VEGAS (Dec. 5, 2012) – Heralded as the home of a wide range of award-winning dining experiences including two AAA Five Diamond restaurants, Julian Serrano's Picasso and Le Cirque from the renowned Maccioni family, Bellagio’s 2013 Epicurean Epicenter series continues its tradition of innovative and immersive experiences. On Saturday, Jan. 26, guests can taste five wines from the legendary Inglenook estate, paired with the critically acclaimed cuisine of James Beard award-winning chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten of Bellagio’s Prime Steakhouse.
Tickets priced at $350 per person, all-inclusive, and available for purchase online at Bellagio's Epicurean Epicenter webpage or by calling Bellagio Concierge at 866-406-7117.

Chef Vongerichten will prepare a four-course masterpiece in Tuscany Kitchen, a signature element to all Epicurean Epicenter events. Moments after watching each course prepared right before their eyes, guests will savor Vongerichten’s menu along with Inglenook wines, as paired by Managing Director Philippe Bascaules, Owner Francis Ford Coppola and Bellagio’s Director of Wine Jason Smith.

“For Bellagio’s Epicurean Epicenter, we strive to deliver extraordinary culinary experiences pairing our world-renowned chefs with the world’s finest winemakers,” said Ana Marie Mormando, vice president of Food & Beverage at Bellagio. “At our inaugural event for the 2013 season, we’re proud to offer our guests the unique opportunity to savor the wines of Inglenook, one of America’s pioneering great wines estates.”

Celebrity Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten said, “Opening the 2013 Epicurean Epicenter at Bellagio is a privilege and the exclusive menu that I create will be truly memorable. The flavor profiles will pair eloquently with the Inglenook wines, an estate I am honored to partner with for this event. I am confident this will be one unforgettable evening and once again, only an experience Bellagio can provide its guests.”

Throughout the 133-year history of the estate, Inglenook has flourished under the ownership of three important custodians: Gustave Niebaum, John Daniel Junior and Francis Ford Coppola. Niebaum laid the ambitious and insightful foundations for the estate, claiming that no expense would be spared in his quest to produce wines that would “equal of any in the world.” His successor, John Daniel Junior, achieved just that and his 1941 Inglenook is still considered one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons ever produced. In 1975, the Coppola family was able to buy their first part of the Inglenook estate, which had fallen into a decade of decline. This was the beginning of a 38-year project that would see them tirelessly piece together and restore the historical estate to its former glory.

Bellagio Director of Wine and Master Sommelier Jason Smith said, “The 2009 wines we will serve at the Inglenook dinner are the first wines to be released from the property under the Inglenook name since 1964. As Bellagio continues to be the industry leader in wine education, it is essential that we provide our guests with a platform to further their knowledge through these rare and exclusive moments; the exact foundation on which Epicurean Epicenter is structured.”

In 2011, Philippe Bascaules was appointed as Managing Director of Inglenook. His 21 year experience of making First Growth Bordeaux makes him the ideal person to continue Niebaum’s legacy. 2011 also marked another important milestone in the Inglenook story, as they succeeded in obtaining the rights to use the Inglenook name once again. For more information on Inglenook, visit online at http://www.inglenook.com/flash.php.

Four MGM Resorts International Properties Awarded Highest Green Key Meetings Rating
Posted November 14, 2012
Elite recognition in sustainable hotel operations
LAS VEGAS - Nov. 14, 2012 - Green Key Global, the largest international certification body evaluating sustainable hotel operations, has awarded the prestigious “5 Green Keys" rating to four MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) properties for its Green Key Meetings Program, including Bellagio Resort & Casino, ARIA Resort & Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort and MGM Grand Las Vegas. The four MGM resorts are the first in the United States to receive "5 Green Keys" for meetings, and among an elite group of only six total in North America.

MGM Resorts remains one of the most productive meeting and convention destinations in the world, offering award-wining experiences throughout its three million square feet of meeting and convention space. In addition, each of the 11 MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas as well as Reno and in Tunica and Biloxi, Mississippi and in Detroit, Michigan has taken substantial steps in their commitment to sustainability.

“Green Advantage is MGM Resorts International’s platform to ensure that environmentally-conscious decisions are at the forefront of our business operations and facilities. We are pleased to have earned the five-key distinction from Green Key Global, validating the significant efforts of our team to build a world class green meeting program,” said Cindy Ortega, Senior Vice President & Chief Sustainability Officer.

The designation of 5 Keys is awarded to hotels that exemplify the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility in relation to their meetings and convention facilities and practices.

“Now, more than ever, the Meeting Planner community is seeking innovative, sustainable solutions when hosting their events,” said Michael Dominguez, Senior Vice President of Sales for MGM Resorts International. “As this is an integral part of the meeting planner organization's objectives, we are extremely proud to be a solution provider meeting environmental expectations while still providing world-class, award-winning service,” Dominguez added.

Green Key Meetings is a comprehensive assessment tool for eco-friendly resorts and hotels that hold meetings of any size. It is designed to provide Travel, Meeting and Conference Planners with a sense of a hotel’s level of commitment to environment issues. Overall, the Green Key Eco-Rating Program has more than 2,850 member hotels and is the foremost “green” ranking and audit program in North America.

“As the first U.S. chain to introduce the Green Key Meetings Program to its portfolio, MGM Resorts has demonstrated that practicing environmental stewardship need not affect the quality of an event but can, in fact, enhance its success,” said Tony Pollard, Managing Director of Green Key Global. “That these four Las Vegas properties have all achieved the highest rating is a testament to their dedication to sustainability within all aspects of their operations.”

Green Key Meetings ranks venues on a level of 1 to 5 keys, with 5 being the highest ranking. Keys are awarded based on how properties perform in six conference and meeting areas: Core Areas (carbon, energy, water, waste, air quality), Communication (information, training), Activities (purchasing, auditing, community), People (health), Exhibitions, and Audio/Visual. The Green Key Meetings properties and rankings are listed at http://www.greenkeyglobal.com/greenkeymeetings.asp.

MGM Resorts’ approach to sustainability focuses on five core areas - natural resources conservation, sustainable construction and renovation, waste management, sustainable supply chain and education and communication. This strategic framework of raising environmental awareness and promoting sustainability forms the company's sustainability platform, called Green Advantage. Green Advantage is fundamentally changing the way MGM Resorts, its properties and its 62,000 employees do business.

The Meeting and Convention spaces across MGM Resorts are extending the level of environmental commitment through substantial initiatives for implementing sustainable features. By example, meeting spaces are retrofitted with light sensors and energy efficient lighting and custom programs to deactivate heating, ventilation and air conditioning while spaces are not in use. Comprehensive recycling programs also divert 37.9 percent of all materials from landfills each year. Resorts also offer specialty menus featuring wide selections of organic, sustainable and Fair Trade products as well as additional options for meetings to reduce water consumption.
In 2011, MGM Resorts International was awarded 12 Green Key Hotel rankings for designation of green business operations. At the core of CityCenter, ARIA Resort & Casino was awarded LEED Gold certification for sustainable design and construction from the U.S. Green Building council.

Bellagio Honored as Premier Las Vegas Resort with 12th Consecutive AAA Five Diamond Award
Posted October 5, 2012
Celebrated Restaurants Picasso & Le Cirque Also Recognized With Prestigious Accolade
LAS VEGAS (Oct. 5, 2012) – AAA awarded Bellagio Resort & Casino the prestigious Five Diamond Award for the 12th consecutive year while Picasso and Le Cirque also received the celebrated designation for 2013. With unsurpassed service, world-class dining and luxurious amenities, Bellagio was the first resort in Las Vegas to achieve this milestone in 2001.

“The AAA Five Diamond Award serves as a symbol for the highest level of excellence within North America’s hospitality industry and to preserve this pinnacle of distinction year after year is an important achievement for all of us at Bellagio,” said Randy Morton, president and COO of Bellagio. “The Five Diamonds are a testament to the dedication and impeccable service our entire team provides on a daily basis to ensure every guest has a first-class experience at our beautiful resort.”

Julian Serrano’s renowned restaurant, Picasso, garnered its 12th AAA Five Diamond Award this year while Le Cirque, by the acclaimed Maccioni family, earned the award for the 10th consecutive year. Bellagio remains the only hotel in the U.S. with two AAA Five Diamond restaurants under one roof.

Cynthia Harris, AAA Nevada spokesperson, said, “Bellagio is a consistent leader in the hospitality industry, representing the ultimate in luxury and sophistication. By earning the AAA Five Diamond rating once again, Bellagio continues to demonstrate its impeccable standards of excellence while offering an unmatched commitment to guest service.”

Inspired by the beautiful villages of Europe, Bellagio overlooks a Mediterranean-blue lake in which The Fountains of Bellagio perform a magnificent aquatic ballet. Award-winning dining, a world-class art gallery, the exquisite Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, Cirque du Soleil’s stunning production of “O,” a luxurious spa and salon and premier shopping all work together to compose the symphony that is Bellagio.

To be considered for AAA rating and approval, lodgings and restaurants undergo a thorough evaluation by AAA/CAA’s full-time tourism inspectors. Five Diamond establishments go through a much more extensive review. AAA experts judge lodgings on the exterior of the facility, public areas, guest rooms, amenities and bathrooms. Restaurants are evaluated on criteria including food, service, décor and ambiance. Less than one-half percent of more than 31,000 hotels and less than one-quarter percent of 26,000 restaurants achieve this distinction.

Bellagio is a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM). For more information and reservations, visit bellagio.com or call toll free (888) 987-6667.

For Vegas, Five Diamond bragging rights
Posted December 7, 2010

December 06, 2010

The folks who making a living selling Las Vegas can start spreading the news: Las Vegas is now home to 15 AAA Five Diamond resorts and restaurants, more than any other city in the country.

"From what I understand, Las Vegas not only has more AAA Five Diamond establishments than any other city in the country, but also in the world," said AAA Nevada spokesman Michael Geeser.

"This means a couple things for the city. For starters, it elevates the city's reputation for quality and service, things that travelers really desire. More importantly, it affirms that the city is able to deliver on its promises."

Vegas' Five Diamond hotels include CityCenter's Aria and Mandarin Oriental along with repeat winners Bellagio, Encore, Four Seasons, Skylofts at MGM Grand, Palazzo, Wynn Las Vegas, Venetian and the now-shuttered Ritz-Carlton at Lake Las Vegas (Dolce Hotels & Resorts plans to reopen and rebrand the Ritz-Carlton this spring).

This award marks the Four Seasons' 12th consecutive year as a AAA Five Diamond hotel and Bellagio's 10th year receiving the honor.

All the Five Diamond award-winning restaurants in Las Vegas are repeat recipients, including Alex at Wynn Las Vegas, Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace , Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand and Picasso and Le Cirque at Bellagio.

Nationally, seven restaurants were removed from AAA's Five Diamond list; none were added. The recently released AAA Five Diamond list covered Northern California, Utah and Nevada. National lists will be unveiled in January.

"AAA has been around more than 100 years, and our membership continues to grow; in Nevada, there are more than 365,000 AAA members, Northern California has more than 4 million and Utah has more than 300,000," Geeser said.

"They count on us. If we tell members that this place reached a certain level, it better be true. ... The recognition tells travelers that you're not going to be let down, that these places will not underdeliver."

"I have spent many years studying wine, and these events are pushing my wine knowledge to a whole new level," Smith said in a statement. Spring arrives at Bellagio's Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Posted March 30, 2010
The spring floral exhibition at Bellagio's Conservatory & Botanical Gardens features seven large-scale bronze ants by artist Susan P. Cochran.

Guests can climb atop the 8,500-pound queen, which rests below two towering yellow jonquils and provides an ideal vantage point for viewing an exhibit of botanical snails and bumblebees as well as brightly colored tulips, poppies, daisies, mums and daffodils.

Steps away, three 10-foot-long ants can be found at the mouth of a 15-foot-tall flowerpot, overflowing with rainbow-hued blooms. A spring butterfly rests atop the oversize pot while a 28-foot spade stands nearby. Overhead, bumblebees made of preserved sunflowers pause midflight in their search for nectar.

Five giant mushrooms, ranging from 5 to 15 feet tall, provide a canopy for the pair of 6-foot-tall ants found communicating below. Within its fragrant symmetrical borders, a large anthill is flanked by two water spheres. A 3-foot-long ant is seen crawling from its earthen tunnel as a counterpart works nearby. A French garden completes the botanical fantasyland.

The exhibit also features 10 potted olive trees, each more than 100 years old. Over the years, the trees have been carefully sculptured into oversize, bonsai-style presentations.

The exhibit is free to the public and will be on display through May 9.

Scheduled to open this summer at Bellagio Resort & Casino, just steps away from The Light Groups chic Caramel Bar & Lounge, FIX Restaurant & Bar and sophisticated nightclub The Bank, Yellowtail will offer an extensive Japanese menu of fresh, ingredient-driven cuisine for both the sushi novice and connoisseur in a sumptuous and highly stylized surrounding.

Overlooking Bellagios iconic lake in which fountains perform a magnificent aquatic ballet choreographed to music and lights, Yellowtails stunning and sleek ambiance will set the stage for award-winning chef Akira Backs menu of authentic traditional and modern Japanese cuisine dishes. Seasonal fish and ingredients flown in daily from the finest markets and purveyors around the world will be showcased in sushi, sashimi, tempura and hand rolls. A multi-course Omakase menu, which translates to entrust, will afford the opportunity to sample Backs best culinary creations composed of small dishes. Combining world-class cuisine and an inventive chic dining experience, Yellowtail will be Las Vegas go-to Japanese dining hot spot.

Designed by the world-renowned Rockwell Group of New York City, Yellowtails elegant wood and stone decor will foster a vibrant atmosphere and its intimate size will exude exclusivity. The restaurants signature design element, a 25-by-13-foot, wall-mounted installation at the entrance, will be created using bronze metal scales that resemble the dorsal side of the eponymous fish. The dining room will offer a cozy setting with screens composed of woven twigs set inside antique brass frames. Diners seeking the quintessential Las Vegas experience will enjoy the excitement of The Strip from a patio overlooking Bellagios famed fountain show.

The design of Yellowtails menu will encourage sharing and mimics Chef Backs culinary philosophy to bring happiness to my guests by creating a memorable experience through food. Accessible and fun shared plates will include Toro Sashimi with caviar and microgreens; Yellowtail with Serrano peppers, cilantro and yuzu-kosho, a condiment made from the zest of yuzu blended with chili peppers and salt.

Warm shared plates include farm-raised, grain-fed Jidori Chicken, popular with Japanese chefs, prepared with sweet Japanese garlic, potato puree, baby root vegetables and teriyaki; and Grilled Walu, Hawaiian Butterfish with shiitake mushrooms, pearl onions and tosa sauce, a bonito-flavored vinegar and soy sauce mixture.

In addition to traditional raw fish preparations, Chef Back will create a selection of innovative dishes inspired by his global travels as a professional snowboarder and experiences working with industry greats, such as Nobu and Morimoto. These dishes include Big Eye Tuna Pizza with shiso, an aromatic mint-like herb popular in Japan; and Maine Lobster Carpaccio with sweet onion and cilantro. Washu beef, a domestic breed of Kobe, will be featured on Yellowtails menu in three different preparations, while Japanese Kobe beef and Washugyu beef will be offered in tenderloin or rib-eye cuts, seared in hot oil, marinated in balsamic teriyaki, or cooked using the traditional tataki method.

Yellowtail will offer a hand-selected extensive sake collection, encompassing several different types from the classic to the avant-garde representing many prefectures from across Japan. Large bottles of sake and souchu also will be displayed at the 18-seat bar where illuminated rice paper and colorful photos of Japanese flowers will offer a warm glow. A selection of wine, beer and signature cocktails, including the exotic yuzu-infused Peridot or the light and refreshing Asian Pear will complement the menu.
