Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort receives level-five certification from Costa Rican Tourism Chamber
After an extensive and rigorous evaluation process, Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort is now celebrating its status as belonging to an elite group of companies with level-five certification for Sustainable Tourism in Costa Rica (CST). The CST program of the Costa Rican Tourism Chamber is designed to differentiate tourism companies according to the degree to which their operations approach a model of sustainability in the management of natural, cultural and social resources. The award is granted by the National Accreditation Commission, which is based in Costa Rica.

With a rating higher than 95, Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort stands out for having an excellent biological and physical environment, plus sustainability programs and various efforts toward environmental protection. The hotel is being recognized for the efficiency of its internal processes in the management of waste and the use of technologies for saving electricity and water.

“Receiving this recognition is the result of all the hard work of each of our colleagues from all the different areas of the hotel who contribute to a sustainable operation that will guarantee progress and continuous improvement within our resort, the environment and our communities,” says Andaz Peninsula Papagayo’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Mariella Cabezas.

With this recognition, the resort has highlighted its design of a tourism product in line with the trends of the industry, efforts that reflect the rich culture of the country and the region of Guanacaste. Andaz Peninsula Papagayo is also being recognized for inviting its guests to participate in these sustainability policies.

The resort by far exceeds the identification and interaction with adjacent communities, showcasing the extent to which the resort responds to the growth and development of the region through job creation and various benefits for the community.
Costa Rican Hotel Listed Among the Best of the World
Posted May 5, 2014
Condé Nast Traveler Magazine published their prestigious list of the best hotels worldwide and highlighted Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica
Guanacaste, Costa Rica. May 5th, 2014. International tourists laid their eyes on Costa Rica, since the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort, from the renowned hotel chain Hyatt, was listed as one of the best hotels in the world under the family destination category, in Condé Nast Traveler's 18th annual "hot list," highlighting the best hotels that debuted during 2013.

The hotel opened its doors on December last year being the first Andaz Resort, from the Hyatt chain, located in Latin America. Different aspects such as its closeness to the Daniel Oduber International Airport located in Liberia, Guanacaste, their welcoming staff and fast service where key parameters for Condé Nast Traveler to catalog the hotel within the best in the world.

“It’s an honor to be part of the best new hotels of the world, especially because we are representing Costa Rica on this list, being the only hotel in the country highlighted this year,” expressed Vincent de Croock, Sales Director for Andaz Peninsula Papagayo.

This year, 510 new hotels of 400 cities around the world from 93 countries where taken into consideration to create this list. From the complete list, only 33 were selected as the best in the world, publishing the most selective list in history. In 2013, 154 hotels were selected.

Condé Nast took into consideration several aspects in order to determine which would be the hotels included in the top-hotel list. The criteria that was taken into consideration was:
• A Sense of Place - a hotel that celebrates where it is located in the World
• A Sense of Personality - a hotel where it feels like every decoration has been hand chosen by a person, not a committee
• A Sense of Intuition - a hotel where it feels like your needs are considered before you even know what they are

Andaz unique characteristics

The nature, service and Andaz commitment to local talent were some of the aspects that Condé Nast pointed out in its publication.
“Just a 20 minute ride from the airport on a newly developed, tropical, forest-covered spit of land on the northern Pacific coast, the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo is a naturalist’ paradise: a series of earth-hued stone and hardwood structures that blend seamlessly into the greenery. Here it’s all about ease- making it an ideal family destination,” mentioned Douglas Rogers, Condé Nast Traveler Editor.
Other services such as Andaz Host definitely show a difference when compared with other hotels. This service at Andaz Peninsula Papagayo allows guests to have a personalized help since they arrive to the hotel and until they leave, in order to receive recommendations and even to make a reservation at one of the restaurants.
Also, the resort reaffirms its commitment with local talent by opening a local artistic exhibition inside the hotel known as Andaz Salon, a space where local artists, designers, movies and concerts are shown for all visitors to enjoy.
“These are some of the key aspects which our hotel offers, aiming to make everyone’s visit original and unforgettable,” finished De Crook.
