LA PALESTRA will call The Plaza home this fall, with a new state-of-the-art fitness center in the luxury hotel. Created in 1994 by President and Founder, Pat Manocchia, LA PALESTRA incorporates an integrated approach to wellness and operates six facilities throughout Manhattan, including a Center for Preventative Medicine on the Upper West Side.
A constant forerunner in “best in class” service and amenities, The Plaza exemplifies the perfect marriage between old world luxury hotel and modern, hi-tech facilities. The Plaza was the first hotel to pioneer food hall- style dining with The Plaza Food Hall by Todd English and recently launched an initiative with an iPad in every room, featuring room controls and an array of amenities such as In Room Dining and Concierge Service. “Our commitment to The Plaza is as strong as ever. The addition of LA PALESTRA is an integral part of completing our vision to deliver the ultimate in luxury accommodations in a remarkable setting,” states Victor Sigoura, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Development, Elad Properties.
"We are thrilled to partner with a company like LA PALESTRA, given its core values and deep commitment to personal well-being. LA PALESTRA is a world-class organization that complements the five-star service standards of The Plaza. We are confident that our private residents and guests will embrace this exciting new addition,” says Kristin Franzese, Executive Vice President, The Plaza.
Adhering to the belief, ‘A sound mind in a sound body,’ LA PALESTRA’s mission is “To Improve the Quality of People’s Lives Through Exercise, Education, and Community.” A hybrid between the medical and fitness industries, each facility offers state-of-the-art aerobic and strength training equipment, Pilates’ rooms, massage and treatment rooms, and most locations offering steam or sauna rooms. A long-time favorite of health conscious celebrities including John McEnroe, Howard Stern, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Liam Neeson, LA PALESTRA centers offer a wide range of programming, from marathon training to weight management, pre- and post- natal, to low back pain, as well as the LA PALESTRA KIDS’ program, which caters to children ages five months to five years.
“Occasionally opportunities arise that allow each of the participants an ability to not only bring value to the relationship, but create something that is truly special; this is one of those rare occasions. We are extremely excited to be partnering with The Plaza, a New York icon, and an organization whose commitment to the highest quality products and services, we share,” says Pat Manocchia.
The new facility will open its doors in fall 2011, and will be accessible to hotel residents, guests and the public via membership.
