San Diego hotel group shows community spirit by cleaning up coastlines on January 8 (SAN DIEGO) January 6, 2015 – Evans Hotels, a leading hospitality group in San Diego, California that includes luxury properties The Lodge at Torrey Pines, the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and the Bahia Resort Hotel, will participate in its first Adopt-a-Beach program this Thursday, January 8 between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. During this timeframe, Evans Hotels employees, as well as their families and friends, will join together to clean up the coastline of Ventura Cove on Mission Bay. The Adopt-a-Beach program is the creation of I Love a Clean San Diego, a non-profit organization that educates and encourages the community to conserve the environment.
“It is important to us that we do our part to keep our neighborhoods clean and enjoyable,” said Robert H. Gleason, President and CEO of Evans Hotels. “Mission Bay is the backyard of two of our properties, the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa and the Bahia Resort Hotel, so we are committed to keeping the area beautiful and, through this, happy to be able to give back to the community.”
Evans Hotels will make the program effective and enjoyable for its employees by providing volunteers with a host of items including gloves, trash bags, special t-shirts, raffle prizes and snacks at the site of cleanup. While volunteering, participants will also learn about the conservation of San Diego’s coastal resources and the importance of clean oceans, shorelines and waterways.
While this is Evans Hotels’ first time participating in I Love a Clean San Diego’s Adopt-a-Beach program, the hotel group also recently shared its care for the community by participating in 2014 Coastal Cleanup Day last September. During this time, volunteers removed man-made debris from Santa Clara Point in Mission Bay and Torrey Pines State Beach in La Jolla.
