TARRYTOWN, NY, August 4, 2009 - The Tarrytown House Estate & Conference Center, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Hettinger of Mohegan Lake, NY to Executive Chef. In his new position, Chef Hettinger is responsible for overseeing the entire culinary team, menu creation for everything from conferences to weddings, as well as Cellar 49 and the Cabana Grille, also located on the property.
Hettinger began his career with the Tarrytown House in 1997 as a breakfast cook, and worked his way up through the ranks to executive sous chef. During that time, he took a brief hiatus from cooking and served as property operations manager from 2003 to 2004.
His cooking style is described as American Regional with international nuances. Chef Hettinger relies on Hudson Valley and mid-Atlantic meats, fish and produce for his culinary creations. His menus feature many items from local, sustainable, and organic sources, especially seafood items that are considered "Best Choice" by the Monterrey Bay Seafood Watch.
Chef Hettinger is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, where he received an Associates Degree in 1996.
