Where to Go, What to Wear
Ghostbar at the Palms Casino Resort may be known for its Dayclub shenanigans (confetti showers, adult-friendly pinatas), but weddings here tend to be more sophisticated. Soaring 55 stories into the desert air, the Vegas skyline sprawled below, the facility's Sky-deck can accommodate 75 well-wishers; afterward, the white-black-and-fuchsia lounge turns into a pizazzy reception spot.

Chef Tony Hu brings famed Chinese restaurant with revamped menu to a stunning new setting in Las Vegas
Las Vegas – On Sept. 12, Palms Casino Resort gets spicy as Chef Tony Hu brings his acclaimed Lao Sze Chuan to Las Vegas for the first time. A reinvention of Hu’s popular Chicago-based restaurant, Lao Sze Chuan introduces an expansive menu of Sze Chuan cuisine as well as a selection of popular Mandarin, Cantonese, Hunan and Shanghai dishes made especially for the Palms location. A flavorful addition to the impressive culinary offerings on the property, Lao Sze Chuan at Palms opens with a range of inventive menu options in a completely redesigned space sure to tempt the taste buds and the imagination.
“Chef Tony Hu’s approach to traditional Chinese cuisine is unlike any other in Las Vegas, so we’re very excited to introduce his newest restaurant here at Palms Casino Resort,” said Alexander Schnoeller, Vice President of Food and Beverage at Palms Casino Resort. “With such a wide variety of options and an incredible atmosphere, we’re confident that Lao Sze Chuan is an experience that all of our guests will enjoy.”
Known as Chicago’s “Mayor of Chinatown,” Hu built Lao Sze Chuan into one of the nation’s most beloved Chinese restaurants, honored with the MICHELIN Guide “Bib Gourmand” distinction for two consecutive years. At the new Palms location, Hu introduces the exceptional quality and remarkable flavors guests have come to expect from Lao Sze Chuan with a special “Customers’ Favorite Selection” menu featuring a collection of popular items from his other restaurants. Signature dishes include the famously spicy Tony's Chicken with Three Chili, the savory Sze Chuan Smoked Tea Duck. The restaurant will also feature delicious vegetarian options like Mapo Tofu.
Taking frequent visits to China to research culinary trends, Hu continuously modifies his menus to reflect the latest in Chinese cuisine. Lao Sze Chuan features a range of new dishes developed specifically for the Palms location. Hu’s latest creations include the Sze Chuan Peppercorn Fish, the Famous Empress Lobster topped with dry chili, ginger and scallions, and the Twice Cooked Pork Szechuan Style. The menu is packed with more than 200 beef, chicken, pork and seafood options including a variety of soups, dim sum and an emphasis on hot pots, like the House Special Chicken in Hot Mini Wok, simmered bone-in for delectable flavor and served to the table in a large pot.
To complement the entrees, Lao Sze Chuan also offers an assortment of authentic Chinese beers and specialty cocktails. Expertly selected to enhance the flavor of each dish, the imported Chinese beer selections include TsingTao, Tiger and Lucky Buddha. Specialty cocktails include items such as Dragon’s Eye, a delicious blend of Skyy Infusions Dragon Fruit vodka and Calamansi Juice served with dehydrated dragon fruit, as well as the exotic International Waltz, a combination of Bombay Sapphire East, Nagomi Lychee Syrup, Funkin Brazilian and Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic.
“When creating Lao Sze Chuan at Palms, I challenged myself to experiment with new flavors, ingredients, and even a new design that all came together for a restaurant that I’m very proud of,” said Tony Hu, Founder and Executive Chef of Lao Sze Chuan. “I’m thrilled to welcome guests to my newest restaurant at Palms where they can enjoy both my newest culinary creations and the Lao Sze Chuan classics.”
Blending traditional Chinese stylings with modern flair, Lao Sze Chuan’s stunning design creates an atmosphere that is both elegant and contemporary. The 150-seat restaurant is draped with various textiles, vibrant décor, and traditional Chinese elements. Metallic gold, bold red accents and regal hues of purple highlight the contemporary venue, with eye-catching ceramic sculptures and modern, culturally inspired artwork adorning the space. A centrally located imperial chandelier serves as the focal point of the restaurant, surrounded by high ceilings and open windows that showcase the action on the casino floor. Soon after opening, guests will also be able to enjoy their meal in a lively outdoor environment on the spacious patio overlooking Palms Pool.
Lao Sze Chuan, located on the east end of the casino, opens daily, Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Friday through Saturday from 11 to 2 a.m. The restaurant serves dim sum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Las Vegas – Palms Casino Resort introduces Lao Sze Chuan, an authentic Chinese Sze Chuan cuisine restaurant by renowned Chicago chef, Tony Hu, opening in late August. Honored with the MICHELIN Guide “Bib Gourmand” distinction for two consecutive years, Lao Sze Chuan is one of 16 restaurants owned by Hu. Lao Sze Chuan at Palms is the seventh location of the popular Chicago-based restaurant and Hu’s first Las Vegas venture. Lao Sze Chuan offers a robust menu of Sze Chuan cuisine and a selection of popular Mandarin, Cantonese, Hunan and Shanghai dishes made especially for the Palms location, featuring the standout quality and remarkable flavor guests have come to expect from the restaurant.
“At Palms we’re continuing to evolve, creating exceptional experiences throughout the property to match our guests’ diverse interests and tastes,” said Alexander Schnoeller, Vice President of Food and Beverage at Palms Casino Resort. “We’re honored to welcome Tony Hu and his celebrated cuisine to the property with the opening of Lao Sze Chuan.”
Known in the culinary world as Chicago’s “mayor of Chinatown,” Hu shaped Lao Sze Chuan into one of the nation’s most beloved Chinese restaurants with a solid reputation for providing traditional Sze Chuan cuisine with high quality ingredients. Taking frequent visits to China to research culinary trends, Hu continuously modifies the menu to reflect the latest in Chinese cuisine and a range of options designed for those who appreciate true Chinese flavor. Hu’s dedication to providing genuine Asian fare is found in each of his restaurants, particularly Lao Sze Chuan, with Lao symbolizing old, traditional and authentic in Mandarin, and Sze Chuan naming the province from which the spicy cuisine originates.
Lao Sze Chuan at Palms is a reinvention of Hu’s popular restaurant enhanced with a range of new menu options and a vibrant atmosphere. The menu features more than 200 beef, chicken, pork and seafood options, along with a variety of soups, dim sum and will focus on traditional hot pots. In addition to traditional Sze Chuan dishes and a “best of” selection of cuisine from other Asian influences, Hu’s menu offers popular dishes adapted to American tastes. The expert staff at Lao Sze Chuan will frequently contribute new ideas and inventive entrees for the restaurant to offer a new experience for guests each time they visit.
“Las Vegas is home to restaurants by the top chefs in the world, so when selecting the next location of Lao Sze Chuan, I wanted to partner with a progressive property that would inspire creativity in my new dishes,” said Tony Hu, Founder and Executive Chef of Lao Sze Chuan. “I’m excited to be part of the outstanding culinary environment at Palms and confident that guests will love the new menu.”
The Palms location will feature several new menu items including the Sze Chaun Peppercorn Fish. In addition to new dishes, Lao Sze Chuan serves signature entrees from the Chicago locations like Tony’s Chicken with Three Chili, a spicy favorite famous at his restaurants.
Along with a delicious menu, Lao Sze Chuan features a stylish, and open design unique to Las Vegas. The 150-seat restaurant is draped with various textiles, vibrant décor, high ceilings, chandeliers and traditional Chinese elements. Metallic gold and bold red accents highlight the casual venue, with eye-catching ceramic sculptures and culturally-inspired artwork adorning the space. Soon after opening, guests can also enjoy their meal in a lively outdoor environment on the spacious patio overlooking Palms Pool.

Guest-Friendly 24-Hour Hotel Stays Hits Las Vegas - Part Of A Bigger Trend?
Posted April 1, 2014
Palms Casino Resort program lets visitors stay longer
You might think all hotel stays are 24-hours, but they are not, and this trend varies from industry norms in two significant ways. First, the actual stay is longer, giving guests more hours for their money, since most hotels have, at least on paper, a check-in time of around 3PM (or 4PM) and check out of noon (or earlier), stealing 3-5 hours from a day. But more importantly, the 24-hour stay begins when you arrive, not at some artificial check-in time that is irrelevant to actual travel. For instance, every year thousands of exhausted American travelers arrive at hotels across Europe at 7-10AM after overnight flights, only to be told to come back in the afternoon. With 24-hour stays you would check in when you want (but also have to check out early in this case).
That’s why its rollout this month at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas is such big news. Few markets are better served by the flexible room stay than Las Vegas, which has tons of leisure and business visitors, on markedly differing schedules, plus a lot of late night arrivals and departures. The Palms offered several scenarios making the benefits of its new 24-hour program
The policy also allows guests to create extra free time to suit their particular vacation needs – more daylight hours if they love the pool, more nighttime if they prefer dinner and nightlife. Business travelers can “enjoy” more hours for work, whether that means meetings or working in the room. Most significantly for Vegas, it can make the red eye home more palatable without having to kill 8-10 hours after check out or spend several extra hours in the airport.
Guests booking directly through the Palms website can choose their anticipated check-in time and then get check out on the day of their departure at the same time (the hotel site also features a best rate guarantee). Hopefully this idea will get traction among competitors in Las Vegas, and even better, become more common worldwide.

Ghostbar undergoes transformation, unveils new look
After a decade or more spent in Vegas nightlife, many venues are just ghostly reminders, but rising up 55 floors, Ghostbar at Palms has not faded quietly into the good night; in fact it's reiventing itself with new spirit.
The renovation that the Ivory Tower hot spot has been experiencing is one of pure design decadence. The bright green and grey palette that dictated the spot before is gone completely, and in its place is a balanced, opulent blend of black, white and fuchsia. The color scheme, married with ornate furnishings and accents, gives the space a dramatically feminine, yet also somehow, sleek and masculine appearance.
Porcelain tile and whimsical carpets by Brintons covers the floor, while above ceilings are lit by Murano-style chandeliers. Plush black banquet and love seat-style seating is spread throughout, with an ornate fireplace glowing from flameless oversize candles. Framed black and white photography and embellished columns add a sexy touch to the room.
And the famous see-through deck that overlooks the neon lights beow has been outfitted with greenery-built-in planters and boxwood hedges, lending a Tuscan-style villa appeal to the outdoor space. Ghostbar also unveils a new menu of handcrafted signature cocktails, sure to help keep up its reputation as one of the hot spots for top DJ talent and hosted parties.
The new look is part of the Palms $50 million property renovation currently under way. "Ghostbar's remodel is a natural extension of the evolution within the property, and we are excited to unveil a stunning new look for the space that will make Ghostbar a must-see in Las Vegas" said Joseph A. Magliarditi, president of Palms. - Kiko Miyasato

Las Vegas Property’s $50 Million Transformation Continues with Sophisticated Upgrades to Famed Ultra-Lounge
Las Vegas –ghostbar, the legendary nightclub located on the 55th floor of the Ivory Tower at Palms Casino Resort, will undergo a sexy and sophisticated remodel designed exclusively to elevate the guest experience. ghostbar will be dark from Sunday, July 7, until it debuts its brand new look in mid-August. The redesign is part of the $50 million renovation currently underway at the property.
“ghostbar has been one of the most recognizable names in nightlife for more than a decade, drawing celebrities and tourists from all over the word to experience the sexy style and breathtaking views that elevated the standard for the Las Vegas ultra-lounge,” said Joseph A. Magliarditi, president of Palms. “ghostbar’s remodel is a natural extension of the evolution within the property, and we are excited to unveil a stunning new look for the space that will make ghostbar a must-see in Las Vegas.”
Klai Juba Architects, the team responsible for the remodel of the property’s Ivory Tower rooms and suites, will bring an elegant design to ghostbar with a feminine feel and an exquisite color scheme of white, black and fuchsia. Featuring Murano-style, glistening chandeliers, plush banquettes with ornate wood carved legs, and porcelain tile flooring alongside dramatic fairytale-style Brinton’s carpet, ghostbar will have a sensual new vibe and will be the perfect setting to take in the world-famous views of the Las Vegas skyline.
Intimate booths will frame ghostbar’s 14-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and will be complemented by the lounge’s unparalleled view of the night sky and city below. A lavish fireplace filled with flameless candles will add a sense of romanticism to the lounge. The skydeck will offer the same sophistication as the interior, but with a whimsical, outdoor feel. Boxwood hedges will frame the bar and patio alongside custom white banquettes with built-in planters. The luscious greenery and vibrant decor add a comfortable touch to the space.
The nightlife destination will offer open seating earlier in the evening and will be perfect for guests looking to grab drink. As the evening progresses, ghostbar will become a sophisticated lounge with music spun by live DJs spining a mix of top 40 hits from a damask patterned acrylic booth that sports a fuchsia-glow backlight and bottle service. Additionally, the hot spot will unveil a bevy of mouthwatering, hand-crafted signature cocktails.
The warmth, energy and outstanding beauty of the redesigned venue will offer a unique, picture-perfect setting for private corporate events, weddings, or any other social occasion. From a posh meeting space to an over-the-top black tie bash, ghostbar will offer a wide variety of amenities and catering options. ghostbar can accommodate parties up to 350 guests for a reception style event or 170 guests for a plated-dinner function. For more information on private events, guests are encouraged to call 702.942.6962 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the remodel, guests can still enjoy Palms’ fabulous nightlife experiences with spectacular views of the city at Moon nightclub or at The View, open daily from 8 p.m. The View features board games including checkers, tic-tac-toe, dominoes, connect-the-four-dots, billiard tables and a shuffle board. Guests can enjoy an eclectic mix of top 40, rock, 80s, 90s, and hip hop dance music while being treated to half-priced cocktails from 8 until 11 p.m.

Palms invests $50 mil in phase one renovations. Experience revamped rooms, delicious restaurants and alluring nightlife this year www.palms.com
LAS VEGAS – Palms Casino Resort is investing $50 million in the first phase of a transformation that will renovate and reenergize the property that launched a Las Vegas celebrity revolution. The transformation, beginning this summer, will encompass a lavish Palms Tower room and suite redesign, appealing new culinary options, reimagined gaming spaces and new, distinctive nightlife experiences.
“Palms is changing in a major way and will push the boundaries of the ultimate Las Vegas experience,” said Joseph A. Magliarditi, president of the Palms. “From our rooms to our restaurants to our casino floor, guests can look forward to a new and exciting atmosphere combined with the same commitment to customer service they have come to expect.”
Beginning in July, all 428 rooms and suites in the Palms Tower will be remodeled in an ultra-chic and modern style. Designed by Klai Juba, the sophisticated rooms will feature horizontal lines, warm wood tones and vibrant luxe velvets. Each sleek space will highlight custom artwork that complements the overall atmosphere. The mood will be sensual and edgy while staying true to function and user friendliness. The first redesigned rooms are expected to be available to book by September.
In addition to the updated rooms, the entire casino layout will also be reconfigured to maximize flow and ambiance. Changes will include over 250 new slot machines and design upgrades. The property’s Center Bar will be remodeled later this year for a striking anchor on the casino floor.
The dining landscape at Palms is evolving to offer new selections that will add to the already celebrated Simon Restaurant & Lounge, N9NE Steakhouse and Nove Italiano. The first piece of the new dining puzzle, Heraea, a sports-themed restaurant and lounge, opens for guests by year end. The new venue will take over the space currently occupied by Garduño’s, and will offer upscale food, state-of-the-art sports viewing and energetic music in a modern space. Heraea is the brainchild of The ONE Group that is known for its high-energy dining venues. In addition Palms will be expanding its food offerings in the Bistro Buffet as well as adding two new oulets to the The Eatery.
The property renovations will also elevate the Palms signature nightlife outlets. The property’s longstanding relationship with the N9NE Group continues with exciting transformations to be announced shortly.
These changes come on the heels of the May 4 opening of the newly refurbished Cantor Gaming® race and sports book and TONIC sports bar. One of the few sports books in Las Vegas to include a poker room, the multi-million dollar refurbishment project spans 9,840 square feet and offers the latest in technological advancements and convenience.
Renovations begin in July and will continue in stages through the end of 2012 with an aim to have the projects completed in time to ring in 2013.
