From the editors of Elite MeetingsThe exclusivity of a private island, convenience of a city location, and charm of a historical Italian estate — guests get it all at the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa. Set on Isola delle Rose, a 40-acre island designed by Italian architect Matteo Thun, this collection of buildings was built in the 1920s and ’30s and newly renovated in 2015 into Italy’s first JW Marriott.
Visitors reach Venice via a quick boat ride to St. Mark’s Square. From there, they can explore all the beauty of the city, including the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge, and Doge’s Palace. They return to one of the 266 accommodations, either in the main hotel or among the more secluded JW Retreats.
For groups and special events, the modern Venezia Ballroom, which holds up to 380 attendees, combines with nine breakout rooms to create the resort’s Conference Centre. Other venues on the island include San Marco Hall, a former church; the San Marco and Sunset Terraces, which feature enchanting water views; and a number of elegant, flexible meeting rooms.
The island setting provides plenty of recreation options as well. The adults-only rooftop pool overlooks Venice and the lagoon in every direction, while the family pool is surrounded by the gardens and playground. The spa, fitness center, and bike rentals are great for relaxation, and the cooking academy is perfect for team-building. Guests who prefer to have their meals prepared for them can enjoy six onsite restaurants and bars, including the Dopolavoro Dining Room for fine dining.
