Cond Nast Traveler has reached its 23rd annual Awards publication, which includes a list of 1,060 winners that scored a 90.0 or above. These rankings were elected by 25, 000 readers whose passion is travel. Hotel Valencia and San Antonio Living get married

December 2008 - Hotel Valencia Riverwalk and WOAI-TVs San Antonio Living Show announces a wedding-of-a-lifetime giveaway in the first-ever Hotel Valencia Wedding Experience. One lucky San Antonio couple will win the ultimate wedding from Hotel Valencia " planned by the viewers of the San Antonio Living Show.
From February to May 2009, local wedding vendors will present their best options in wedding themes, gowns, flowers and much more for viewers to vote upon at woai.com. Once the votes are tallied, Shelley Miles, host of San Antonio Living Show, will announce the winning selection during the morning show, which airs weekdays 10-11 a.m. on WOAI (NBC).
HOW DOES IT WORK?
From January 5 to February 8, San Antonio engaged couples may submit an application online at woai.com to be selected as finalists for the Hotel Valencia Wedding Experience. Applications must include a photo of the couple and a one-minute video stating why they should be chosen as the winning couple for the Hotel Valencia Wedding Experience. (A hard copy of the application may be picked up at Hotel Valencias concierge desk, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
The three finalist couples will be announced on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 with an opportunity for viewers to vote for the winning couple. Subsequent shows (every Friday) will feature wedding elements for viewers to vote on, including wedding theme, gown, photographer, cake, music and menu.

Hotel is first in San Antonio to offer unique blend to guests
San Antonio (August 28, 2008) - Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, a chic, upscale property located on the banks of the famed River Walk is pleased to announce that they are furthering their green initiatives by launching a new product, Valencia Blend, a fair trade/organic coffee.
Fair Trade coffee means more than fair prices, when consumers buy Fair Trade Coffee they are supporting fair labor conditions, direct trade, community development, environmental stability and more. Hotel Valencia is the first hotel in San Antonio to take advantage of such offerings - turning a common hotel amenity into a bold step against unfair practices and into the production of sustainable products.
"We decided to look into fair trade coffee not only because of the benefits of drinking organic," said Executive Chef Jeffrey Balfour. "But also for the possibility for creating a unique flavor combination, something that our guests will truly enjoy and that can evolve as a signature product offered exclusively at our hotel."
Valencia Blend, already being served throughout the property, is a custom-blend of Rwandan and Ethiopian beans which helps garner a unique flavor combination. This signature coffee will soon be served at all Valencia Group properties and will be available for purchase through the food and beverage outlets and eventually through an online store.

Local Hotel is Leading the Way in Going Green
San Antonio (May 13, 2008) ' Hotel Valencia Riverwalk is committed to doing its part in making San Antonio a greener and more sustainable city; distinguishing themselves from local hotels by ensuring that new environmental and technological advances are being implemented throughout the property.
Hotel Valencia has reduced their environmental footprint by implementing a multitude of green practices. Low-flow water efficient toilets and energy efficient light bulbs have been installed wherever possible. By only allowing low VOC paints and installing aerators in each guest room, the hotel hopes to reduce water usage by approximately 50%. Hotel Valencias LATHER bath products are all natural and feature packaging made from 20% post-consumer recycled paper, not to mention all un-used bath products are donated to local charities. Furthermore, Hotel Valencia is currently issuing biodegradable key cards to all guests and will pioneer a new energy conservation plan for their laundry department.
Executive Chef Jeffrey Balfour and Citrus are also doing their part by taking advantage of locally sustainable farmers and fishermen to obtain the freshest ingredients, making organic wines available for purchase and only using cloth napkins and table linens throughout the restaurant and catering department. Citrus also features water restrictors on all kitchen faucets, a water-on-request policy and features water glasses made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass. Chef Balfour is pleased to announce that Llanyr water is served throughout the hotel which is the first bottled water with the United Nations Global Impact Seal. As leader of the Food and Beverage Department, Chef Balfour is also looking to have further involvement in Go Texan programs and sustainable farming.
We are leading by example here in San Antonio, said Chad Taylor, General Manager of Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. By incorporating eco-friendly products and practices all through the property, we have helped to significantly cut down on our water and electricity usage. We intend to further our efforts by creating a light bulb and battery recycling program, and an employee recognition program for those that carpool to work.
