Elite Meetings Alliance at La Cantera Hill Country Resort Showcased Beautiful Event Venues while Delivering Outstanding Business Results and Giving Back to the Community

Santa Barbara, Calif.: Oct. 20, 2015—Elite Meetings International (EMI) by Cvent announced the conclusion of its September 2015 Elite Meetings Alliance (EMA). The event was held Sept. 20-22 in San Antonio, Texas at the La Cantera Hill Country Resort. The company reports new business opportunities for planners and hoteliers, positive feedback on education sessions, team-building opportunities and networking events. In exit surveys, 100% of responding meeting planners said they expect to book business with a supplier they met with at the EMA.

In his opening presentation, EMI general manager and founder Kelly Foy announced the Elite Meetings re-branding that includes a new logo and cover-to-cover redesign of the 10th Anniversary Edition of Elite Meetings magazine. He went on to emphasize that since being acquired by Cvent, Elite Meetings is stronger than ever. With that strength, Foy said, SpeedRFP will soon be going mobile, making it easier than ever for planners to submit RFPs on the go.

Hotelier Kelly Commerford of The Commons Hotel in Minneapolis said, "This was my first time attending an EMA, but I have sent sales managers for years to the event. I loved the program, great clients, and leads I received, and am looking forward to closing business as a result of the event."

Feedback from meeting planners was equally positive. Deborah Roszell, Channel Partner Marketing Manager of Prosperoware said, “I have attended other industry educational events and I have to say Elite Meetings has the best program out there. The quality of vendors, as well as educational sessions, are what I need to finally complete my CMP. Thank you for an awesome program.”

At the conclusion of the event Foy said, “The EMA at La Cantera Hill Country Resort exceeded expectations on all fronts. For starters, our sponsors, speakers, and the team at the resort went above and beyond to ensure every detail was beyond perfect. Each attendee did his or her part and remained fully engaged throughout the event. The net result is just good business."

Education and Team Building
Education sessions eligible for 6.75 hours of CMP credit covered topics ranging from contract negotiation to the realities of the sharing economy to building rapport with anyone, anywhere. The keynote speaker at this event was Cheryl Cran, who spoke on Leading Change in a Fast Paced and Technological Workplace. Attendees were also privileged to hear Reggie Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Cvent, speak on 10 Lessons Learned as an Entrepreneur and the Future of Meetings.

Team building events sponsored by ACCESS Destination Services hosted a competitive hour that benefited Soldiers' Angels, a San Antonio–based charity that provides supplies and support to active military personnel and their families.

ACCESS also sponsored a CSR activity at Boysville, a campus housing children who are not able to be in their own homes for various reasons. Boysville benefited from EMA attendees beautifying the campus with landscaping, painting and general clean-up.

Over 1,000 one-on-one appointments between suppliers and buyers—plus countless networking interactions—provided a wealth of business opportunities for all.

The Experience
As always, great hotel partners played an essential part in the event’s success. La Cantera Hill Country Resort in the Hill Country of San Antonio, provided breathtaking vistas, memorable event locations and exemplary service. From day one, the hotel and its staff extended incredible hospitality to all attendees.

From the stunning, infinity-edge pool to the Arnold Palmer–inspired golf course, the hotel offered many beautiful destinations for the EMA's special events. The theme dinner, Lagers and Longhorns, featured two longhorn steers for fun photo opportunities.

The Future
Kelly Foy also announced an increase in the 2016 EMA line-up, including an additional domestic EMA for a total of four plus the first EMA ever in Europe. To learn more, visit
