Elite Overview

Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt erected Vanderbilt Hall in 1908, then donated it to the city of Newport, Rhode Island, the following year. The mansion served as the Newport Men's Social Club and offices for a Doris Duke foundation for nearly a hundred years before it became a hotel in 1997. In 2009, an English entrepreneur and art collector purchased the hotel and brought back the gilded age of Newport mansions throughout its public areas.
Today's Vanderbilt Hall also features 33 custom-designed rooms and suites, a blissful health spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and sophisticated dining at Monty's Bar & Dining Room. Alfred's Billiards Room hosts gatherings of 14 people; while the Victory Room, with its elegant foyer and double-sided fireplace, accommodates groups of 40 for meetings complete with built-in audiovisual equipment and Wi-Fi.
