The brand-new Vail Plaza Hotel & Club takes its design Elements from the grand hotels of the Italian Alps, complete with dramatic bell towers, gables, and elaborate stonework. Inside, a glass peaked ceiling floods the atrium lobby with Colorado sunlight, while a 30-foot-high stone fireplace and deep leather chairs encourage conversation and mingling among arriving guests.

The 207 guest rooms range from standard hotel rooms to four-bedroom suites—all equipped with amenities designed for the discerning traveler, from fluffy feather duvets to flat-screen TVs to 24-hour room service. The suites add gourmet kitchens and dining rooms, the ideal setup for in-room entertaining. Other dining options include the upscale Da Vinci Restaurant, the more casual Galileo Restaurant, and Bacco’s Lounge for predinner cocktails and après-anything gatherings.

Meetings take place in the 7,000-square-foot conference center, highlighted by two flexible ballrooms and a well-appointed boardroom. State-of-the-art infrastructure and a full-service business center complement the facilities. Behind the scenes, the experienced catering staff works hand-in-hand with planners on everything from menu design to centerpieces to seating arrangements.

The resort occupies a privileged location in the heart of the pedestrian village—mere steps from exclusive shops, restaurants, galleries, and the Vista Bahn chairlift to Vail’s legendary slopes. Fly-fishing, horseback riding, tennis, and golf keep group members active in warm-weather months, as well. Hot tubs, an outdoor heated pool, a fitness center, and the Italian-style, full-service Sorrento Spa enrich a stay in any season.

First Newly Built Property to Grace Vail Village in 43 Years

Vail, CO (February 6, 2008) - Inspired by the grand hotels of the Italian Alps, Vail Plaza Hotel & Club, which opened it's door in December, is the first newly built property to open in Vail Village in 43 years, imbuing true Italian elegance and romance into the heart of the legendary ski village. 'Dolce Far Niente,' an Italian phrase extolling the virtues of a living a slower pace and enjoying life, is the underlying philosophy of Vail Plaza Hotel & Club.
"Guests can enjoy a reprieve from their busy lives, relax and feel as if they have escaped to the glory of the Italian Alps while enjoying the beauty and activities of the majestic Colorado Rockies," said Director of Sales and Marketing George Chumbley. "It's truly the best of both worlds."

Centrally located in Vail Village and surrounded by a vibrant pedestrian area with boutiques, restaurants, galleries and aprs-ski beacons, the privately-owned Vail Plaza Hotel & Club features 100 guestrooms and 38 suites. The suites and fractional ownership condos are comprised of elegantly furnished 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom residences and penthouses, all with unobstructed mountain views from decks and balconies.

The entry features an enclosed stone archway and exterior atrium for vehicles. Forty feet above, in the alpine-inspired lobby, a cantilevered cathedral ceiling with glass windows provides a breathtaking view to the skies while the fieldstone fireplace provides a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. A pitched tile roof with dormered windows and copper accents are reminiscent of the mountain villages of the Italian Alps while locally quarried stone adds a Rocky Mountain personality. In addition, Vail Plaza Hotel & Club offers walk-to-lift access to Vail Mountain, as well as, easy access to hiking and biking trails. Vail Golf Club, with spectacular views of Gore Range, is just a half mile away.

The luxury of Italian design permeates the property including the furnishings and treatments, guestrooms, restaurants, spa and conference facilities. The guestrooms feature custom-designed furnishings, luxurious fabrics, and concealed Roman Shades for the windows. Hardwood floors, granite countertops, and Italian tile are among the elegant design choices in the suites. All 38 residences have fireplaces and are equipped with full gourmet kitchens and dining rooms, double vanities in master baths with heated floors, standing showers and separate restrooms (in most plans), all with natural stone countertops and flooring. Details such as plush terrycloth bathrobes, Egyptian cotton sheets, and feather duvets add to the luxury experience in both guestrooms and residences. Other amenities include room service, Flat-screen televisions, Wireless Internet throughout the property, and Acca Kappa Italian bath products.

DINING EXPERIENCE:
Dining at Vail Plaza Hotel & Club offers guests a memorable and varied experience. An outstanding international wine list complements the menu selections, with choices from the finest vineyards in Europe and the Americas. A special five-course wine dinner, featuring a different guest speaker from across the nation, is offered each month.

Guests can enjoy a more casual dining experience at Galileo, an Italian-inspired bistro serving American culinary favorites and local microbrewery favorites. Bacco's Lounge provides a cozy, wood-paneled, club-like setting and a lively aprs ski ambience, year-round. Serving a full menu and wide selection of wines, liquors, and beers, Bacco's is also the setting for live music and even livelier conversation.
