VAIL CASCADE RESORT'S ARIA SPA NAMED AMONG "BEST IN COLORADO" IN DENVER MAGAZINE
Posted May 9, 2011
January 3, 2011—Vail, Colorado--Aria Spa, located at the Vail Cascade Resort, has been deemed one of the very best spas in Colorado in the January edition of Denver Magazine. The magazine has chosen twenty-five Colorado spas identified as offering exceptional overall spa experiences, reporting that the award list includes “the most luxurious spas in the state”. Named by Denver Magazine as one of the “25 Best Spas in Colorado” Aria Spa was noted for the utilization of the “restful colors of nature—forest green, soft browns, and auburns”. Vail Cascade Resort’s Aria Spa was also praised in the award description for signature treatments such as the Blue Detox Wrap which uses clays, seaweed and plant extracts, and for the Ling Non-Surgical Facelift. Guests can relax in the Sanctuary room in the heart of the spa on chaise lounges surrounding a soothing fireplace or in the men’s or women’s locker room with whirlpool, steamrooms and sauna time. Refreshing cool water infused with cucumber and lemon is offered with a selection of hot teas, and spa-goers can order healthy—or decadent—morsels from a full spa menu. The spa has fourteen treatment rooms and spaces for manicures and pedicures, allowing groups to make multiple reservations at one time. As part of a recent $30 million dollar renovation of the Vail Cascade Resort, Aria Spa is considered to be a “10,000 square-foot oasis” aside from the popular fitness club that flanks it, according to April Bingham, spa director. Reservations and information about Aria Spa can be found at www.vailcascade.com or by calling 1-888-824-5772. The spa is open seven days per week from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Vail Cascade Resort is also Vail’s only AAA Four-Diamond ski-in/ski-out property with a Vail Mountain chairlift on-site and full ski and snowboard rentals available inside the hotel.

ARIA AT VAIL CASCADE RESORT DONTATES TO SHAW REGIONAL CANCER CENTER
Posted May 7, 2011
Vail, Colorado—December 2, 2010— Throughout the month of October, a portion of the proceeds from massages, facials and body treatments purchased at Vail Cascade’s Aria Spa were reserved to benefit the Shaw Regional Cancer Center. On Wednesday, December 2nd, spa director April Bingham presented a check in the amount of $3,850 to representatives of the Shaw Regional Cancer Center as a result of the initiative. Peggy Carey, Vice President of Oncology at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center and Colleen Berga, Breast Imaging Coordinator at the Sonnenalp Breast Center both welcomed the donation along with Doug Smith and Sarah Paladino of the Vail Valley Medical Center.
“Promotions such as this one at Aria don’t just raise funds, they help raise awareness for what we are trying to do to help our programming continue,” said Doug Smith, Vice President of Development and Marketing at the Vail Valley Medical Center.
This is the second year that Aria at Vail Cascade Resort has provided a donation to the center, and therapists at the spa were an integral part in communicating the need to support the local cause. Bingham reported that the staff enjoyed feeling as though they were helping community members benefitting from the treatments that the Shaw Regional Cancer Center offers.
“The Shaw Center is a true asset to the community,” said Bingham. “Our mission at Aria Spa is to encompass ‘health and wellness’ so it seemed natural to support such an important local organization.”

Located in Edwards, Colorado, the Shaw Regional Cancer Center provides services including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of most types of cancer and is a program that aims to “provide an innovative, high quality cancer treatment center that focuses on restoring the mind and the body, empowering cancer patients to become cancer survivors,” as stated in the center’s mission statement.

Additionally, Vail Cascade Resort general manager Brett Schoenfield has issued the following proclamation:

“Over the past three years, the Vail Cascade Resort has adopted the Destination Earth program with the knowledge that the resort’s customers and associates all benefit from a healthy, sustainable environment. The property has a designated ‘green team’ onsite and has made a commitment to pursuing the following ideals:

• Sourcing environmentally responsible services and products locally, and purchasing organic, Earth-friendly and recycled supplies whenever possible.
• Purchasing fresh and sustainable foods locally grown, whenever possible.
• Creating partnerships with other organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to preserving the environment.

VAIL CASCADE RESORT PLACED ON TRAVEL + LEISURE’S “TOP 500 HOTELS IN THE WORLD” COVETED LIST

December 16, 2010—Vail, Colorado--Vail Cascade Resort General Manager Brett Schoenfield is thrilled to announce that the property has been placed on Travel + Leisure’s “Top 500 Hotels in the World” list. Following the recent announcements that Vail Cascade has also won positions on Travel + Leisure’s “Top Family Hotels”, Conde Nast Traveler’s “Top 50”, Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence” and several other recognitions of excellence, this latest proclamation is a nod to the continuing success of the AAA Four Diamond ski-in/ski-out Vail Cascade Resort. Travel + Leisure readers vote for hotels that they feel are far above par of the majority of options worldwide, and once per year the publication releases a list of the properties they voted as the very best overall.

“I am honored that our guests have recognized the efforts put forth to ensure the comfort and overall positive experience they encounter at Vail Cascade. I am extremely proud of our team and the work that has been done to ensure memorable experiences for our guests. To be on this list is true mark of distinction, and receiving this recognition means reaching a pinnacle of success," stated Schoenfield.

Vail Cascade Resort completed a $30 million dollar renovation in 2009, and re-dedicated efforts to focus on guest service and employee satisfaction. Schoenfield feels that the efforts were an integral influence in all of the recent awards, and that the latest announcement designating Vail Cascade as one of Travel + Leisure’s “Best in the World” gives the resort the recognition he feels it has earned.

Schoenfield elaborated by saying, "Being on this highly acclaimed list means a confirmation of the strength of our team: the decisions made, the energy expended and the satisfaction of earning the title of an elite property. The announcement that Vail Cascade is one of the very best hotels in the world is an honor, and reflects the integrity and efforts of the entire team."

General Manager Schoenfield invites future guests by stating, “The readers of Travel + Leisure are savvy world travelers. We hope that this award encourages them to make us a ‘must visit’ destination."

Vail Cascade Resort’s assignment to the “Top 500 Hotels in the World” by Travel + Leisure also includes the property’s award-winning restaurant, Atwater on Gore Creek. Atwater recently debuted a new Chef’s Tasting Menu; a choice of either three or four courses of inspired menu options focusing on locally sourced produce and meats, and food items procured from businesses that utilize sustainable food principals. The property has also introduced specialty desserts and pastries created by the property’s new executive pastry chef, available not only in the restaurant outlets, but also by custom order for off-property delivery.

Aria Club & Spa, Vail Cascade’s 78,000 square foot showpiece of fitness and wellness contributes to the designation of being on many of the “world’s best” lists via signature programs such as ski conditioning “boot camps”, a myriad of yoga and Pilates programs, cutting edge training equipment and fitness professionals.

With a year round focus on family-friendliness and activities, Vail Cascade Resort is Vail’s only AAA Four Diamond ski-in/ski-out property with a Vail Mountain chairlift located directly outside of the Terrace Wing of the hotel. Guests can enjoy a wrapped to-go breakfast and be on the ski slopes as soon as the chairlift opens, making it one of the easiest ways to access the world famous ski resort. Skier’s buffet lunches are served in Atwater, maximizing “play time” for visitors, and a warm and inviting environment welcomes guests in the Fireside Lounge in the afternoons and evenings.

Groups and special events are accommodated with the expertise of on-site destination meeting coordinators. The property features more than 30,000 square feet of dedicated large meeting spaces, exhibit halls, conference rooms and indoor and outdoor pavilions.

Travel + Leisure has been a stalwart for many years for travelers who trust the published reviews and coveted awards. Only nine hotels in Colorado made the distinguished list of “Top 500 Hotels in the World” this year. This is the first year that Vail Cascade Resort has been named to the all-encompassing list of the very best: Travel + Leisure’s “Top 500 Hotels in the World”. VAIL CASCADE PARTNERS WITH BLAU & ASSOCIATES ON NEW RESTAURANT CONCEPT AS PART OF $30 MILLION TRANSFORMATION
Posted December 4, 2008
VAIL, Colo. " November 10, 2008 " Vail Cascade Resort & Spa, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, recently announced a partnership with renowned restaurant planning and development expert Elizabeth Blau and her team at Blau & Associates. Blau is assisting the Vail Cascade with the concept and design of its new restaurant, Atwater on Gore Creek. The restaurant will replace the resorts chophouse, Chaps, offering guests a unique new option in on-property dining. Atwater on Gore Creek is scheduled to open in time for the December 2008 holiday season.

Blau & Associates is a strategic restaurant planning and development company that specializes in providing clients with fresh, creative and sound business advice needed to create exceptional food and beverage concepts from start to finish. Blaus client list includes hotels, casinos, resorts and independent restaurants, such as The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach (Palm Beach, Fla.), Wynn Las Vegas Resort & Country Club (Las Vegas), and Le Cirque (New York). Blau recently opened three additional restaurants in the Destination collection including VOICE at Hotel ICON in Houston which was named one of the best new restaurants in 2008 by Esquire magazine. The Blau team also launched Luminaria at Inn and Spa at Loretto in Santa Fe and will debut a variety of restaurants and food and beverage outlets at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, Calif. in 2009.

We selected to work with Blau & Associates because of their proven track record in creating extraordinary dining experiences for some of the most well-known hospitality companies in the industry, said Mark Hickey, senior vice president of US hospitality operations for Destination Hotels & Resorts. The Blau team has worked with us on several projects in the last year and all have been loved by their guests, communities, the media and critics. Were excited for another successful opening with Atwater.

Elizabeth Blaus foodservice career spans more than 23 years. She has and continues to blaze a culinary trail that most restaurant professionals only dream about. Based in Las Vegas, Blau has helped establish what has become one of the countrys finest culinary destinations. Blau has taken her experience and expertise in the restaurant industry and put her focus into Blau & Associates, which was founded in 2002.

In helping create Blau and Associates, Kim Canteenwalla provided a key element through his love of food and genuine dedication to exceptional guest service. His wealth of experience, vast global travels and grass roots approach to restaurant fundamentals made him a natural fit for the company.

The design for Atwater on Gore Creek is in preliminary planning stages. The new restaurant name was derived from the Cascades idyllic location alongside Gore Creek. Atwater on Gore Creek will include an enclosed patio, in addition to the main dining room, with expansive windows offering stunning views of Vail Mountain and Gore Creek.

The 292-room Vail Cascade Resort & Spa provides slope-side access to the largest singlemountain ski resort in North America. The mountainside resort offers 27 suites, more than 80 spacious condominiums and private homes to choose from.

Nestled at the base of Vail Mountain, Vail Cascade, which is completing a $30 million renovation, is Vails only ski-in/ski-out AAA Four Diamond resort. The property was also recently listed as one of the top world-class mountain resorts in Conde Nast Traveler. An abundance of off-slope activities also abound including snowmobiling, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, dog-sled rides, winter fly-fishing, ice climbing, indoor and outdoor ice skating, hot air
balloon rides and hut trips.

Six Destination Hotels & Resorts Properties Streamline Guest Service Operations with GoConcierge Web-Based System Adds Efficiencies to Multiple Departments
Posted October 28, 2008
ENGLEWOOD, COLO. - October 28, 2008 - Six of the leading independent hotels in the United States-all of which are managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts-are now using GoConcierge, the lodging industry's leading guest service operations system. Web-based GoConcierge has streamlined what were once manual processes and made concierge and other departments much more efficient. GoConcierge is produced by Los Angeles-based GoConcierge.net.

The six properties that have implemented GoConcierge include: Royal Palms Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in San Diego, Hotel ICON in Houston, Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont, The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas and Vail Cascade Resort & Spa in Colorado.

"Destination Hotels & Resorts has fantastic properties and we are proud that GoConcierge has added value to their operation and overall guest experience," says Adam Isrow, Executive Vice President of GoConcierge.net.

At the 292-room Vail Cascade Resort & Spa, Guest Relations Manager Steve Trombetta says GoConcierge is a huge improvement when compared to the shared spreadsheets and log books his staff previously used.

"It has made us much more efficient," Trombetta says. "Because of that, we have been able to make the guest experience more luxurious."

User-Friendly Guest Task Calendar

At the Vail property, the nine-person concierge team uses GoConcierge's Guest Task Calendar to log and track guest requests and other tasks such as restaurant reservations and spa confirmations. With just a few clicks, these can be entered and located. The calendar is color coded, which makes it easy to highlight open, pending and closed tasks. Every GoConcierge entry is time stamped. "Our concierges love the time tracking and being able to quickly see outstanding tasks," Trombetta added.

Because a history of each guest's request is stored in GoConcierge, it is easy to generate itineraries. These can be printed or e-mailed in a matter of seconds along with a personalized confirmation letter on stationery that includes the hotel's logo. Point-to-point directions and maps also can be generated easily. Trombetta noted that prior to GoConcierge, itineraries were compiled in separate Word files for each guest.

A customized location database within GoConcierge enables the hotel's concierges to quickly identify area restaurants and attractions. Comments can be added easily to each location's profile. Links on the GoConcierge screen take users to frequently used websites, and to documents that can be printed or e-mailed to guests immediately.

In addition to the concierge desk, GoConcierge is also used by Vail Cascade Resort & Spa associates for the tracking of amenities and packages. Requested amenities and incoming packages are logged into GoConcierge. Once they are delivered, the task is closed within the system. A report generated from GoConcierge each morning helps the room service team prepare for that day's amenity deliveries.

GoConcierge at The Driskill Hotel

At The Driskill Hotel in Austin, up to 20 hotel associates each day have access to GoConcierge at the guest reception desk, throughout the entire front office, and at the concierge station. "It serves as a highly efficient communication tool," says Gavin Philipp, rooms division director at The Driskill. "Everyone on our staff can see what each request is and who created each note."

Front office associates use GoConcierge to enter appointments such as massage treatments, and to generate customized directions for guests. Philipp says that prior to GoConcierge, concierges used handwritten calendars to track daily tasks. The new system allows Phillip and his colleagues to elevate the level of service they provide to the hotel's corporate, group and leisure guests.

"We are encouraged to know that these hotels are benefiting from GoConcierge and that the properties have chosen to work with GoConcierge.net," Isrow says. "They join the hundreds of other hotels around the world that are experiencing GoConcierge's immediate, positive impact on hotel associates and the level of guest service they provide."
