The Palace definitely lives up to its name...meeting space is lovely and all on one floor; guest rooms are beautifully furnished and the staff is very warm and attentive. Breakfast or a reception is a must in La Rotonda. The hotel is relatively close to the airport (about 30 miles), steps from shopping and Il Prado (a potential off-site for your attendees ).

Madrid, 3rd of May 2009 - The team from the kitchens of The Westin Palace, Madrid and from the Cascajares Group have joined together to prepare some recipes that date back 103 years, from which the dishes arose that were served at the Wedding Banquet of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Mª Victoria Eugenia of Battenberg.
The menu for this dinner will include: Consommé Nilson (beef consommé with profiteroles stuffed with parmesan), Perigueux Eggs (poached eggs with mushrooms), Sole à la Colbert (sole with hollandaise sauce and tomato), Beef ribs in Jerez sauce (stewed ribs with green asparagus and Valois sauce), Cascajares Roast Capon (boned capon, stuffed and baked in the oven) , and Wedding Cake, this last dish was introduced into Spain due to this wedding, since it was an English tradition, originating from the bride’s country of birth.
We are offering diners the opportunity to relive that experience and to dine like true royalty, enjoying the flavours and recipes that were fashionable over a century ago.
The menu will only be served on the 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st of May, and every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in June (4th, 5th, 6th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 18th, 19th, 20th ,25th , 26th and 27th) from 8 pm to 11.30 pm in La Rotonda Restaurant. Plaza de las Cortes, 7- 28014 Madrid

The company from Palencia, Cascajares is already selecting the best capons from its farms to be served as the main dish for these dinners. For over a decade the company located in the town of Dueñas has been backing the recovery of the select and noble product of the capon. Therefore, it was not by chance that their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Asturias chose this article as the main dish of their wedding banquet, held in May 2004. Five years on and the capon will once again be the star of another royal dinner.
Some capons that also have their solidary version, since every year Cascajares promotes and organises an auction of these animals, for solidary reasons, to raise funds for different charities.
The Hotel Palace has a very special link with King Alfonso XIII since it was on this Spanish monarch’s insistence (the story goes at his wife’s suggestion), that this hotel was built, at the time the most up to date and spacious one in the city. In the “Espacio Palace” (Palace Space), the hotel’s little museum, which opened its doors in September 2008, the glasses raised by Their Majesties King Alfonso XIII and Queen Mª Victoria of Battenberg at the inauguration of this establishment in October 1912 are stored.
This initiative is framed within the “Centenary Route” calendar of events, the programme of activities that the hotel has started up and that began with the inauguration of the “Espacio Palace”, the little museum that stores the past of this building and the publication of “Palace Hotel”, a book that tells the history of this hotel and that has a foreword written by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. Many other events and projects will come to light here on the 12th of October 2012, when the Palace will celebrate its one hundred year anniversary.
