John Portman, the internationally renowned architect, designed The Westin Charlotte for the uptown business and cultural district of Charlotte, North Carolina. Along with the fresh, contemporary architecture came personal Portman accents like his painting, Nocturne; massive chandelier sculpture in the lobby; and handsome mural, Trolley Lines, flanking the hotel's trolley stop on the second level. Groups find themselves not only conveniently connected to the Charlotte Trolley, but
also steps from the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Bank of America Stadium, and Charlotte Convention Center.
At home guests meet in 44,000 square feet of conference space, including Charlotte's largest hotel ballroom. At 16,277 square feet, the Grand Ballroom seats up to 1,220 delegates or adapts for gatherings of all descriptions—as do a second ballroom and 22 additional conference rooms. Expert catering, a meeting concierge, and the latest technology ensure smooth sailing for custom and turnkey events alike.
The hotel's additional features include a fitness center, indoor pool, 700 amenity-filled rooms and suites, and on-site dining outlets that sizzle with personality and flare. Ember Grille provides a full menu of steaks, seafoods, and sensual desserts, while Bar10 offers a wide range of lighter fare. Its urban atmosphere and soothing waterscape make a perfect setting for sampling the lineup of martinis, wine, single-malt scotches, small-batch bourbons, tequilas, and microbrews.
It's apparent that service is priority #1. At the Westin, you get a sense everyone is on top of their game. My event was a great success.

The Westin Charlotte exceeded all our expectations for a conference we ran June of 2010. The meeting space is well laid out and has a natural light-filled foyer that is perfect for registration, breaks, exhibits, and becomes a central location for attendees. They are close to the airport and plenty of restaurants. The NASCAR Hall of Fame recently opened a block away and is a GREAT venue for an offsite. Most of my group would not be considered NASCAR fans, but they all had a blast.
The one area where the Westin truly excelled was with F&B. I had attendees coming up to me at breaks praising the selection and variety, and really - when do attendees ever talk about break food?
I wouldn't hesitate to return to the Westin Charlotte. They really do help prove that Charlotte's "Got a Lot".
