In the fall of 2008, following a two-year $200-million renovation, the historic Book-Cadillac Hotel reclaimed its position as the premier lodging and meeting destination in Detroit, Michigan. Now called The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, the 32-story Italian Renaissance–style beauty stood as the tallest hotel in the world when it opened in 1924. Historic guest books list everyone from presidents Hoover, Truman Eisenhower, and Kennedy to Irving Berlin, Babe Ruth, Frank Sinatra, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today the famed Italian Garden and Venetian and Crystal ballrooms bask in their original period glory, while a contemporary look and vehicle accessibility highlight the new Woodward Ballroom. All meeting venues, including three executive boardrooms, boast the very latest in technology. Along with the 13 conference rooms (for groups of up to 1,000), the hotel offers 453 deluxe rooms and suites—all with sweeping views of the Detroit River or the city skyline—plus 60 luxury residential units on the top floors. Executive Club Level accommodations satisfy the most discriminating VIPs.

Gourmet dining includes the Boulevard Room for a health-minded breakfast or lunch and the 24 Grille for a casually elegant meal. Celebrity chef Michael Symon, of Iron Chef fame, heads Roast, which specializes in the fine art of locally sourced and prepared artisanal and heritage meats. Guests also enjoy the trendy Motor Bar, Starbucks cafe, fitness center, indoor pool, and full-service spa. Thanks in part to the exceptional devotion of the staff, guest satisfaction surveys place the hotel in the top ten percent of all North American Westin properties.

THE WESTIN BOOK CADILLAC DETROIT RECEIVES AAA FOUR-DIAMOND RATING
DETROIT, MI - August 11, 2010 - The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit has been awarded AAA's prestigious Four-Diamond rating for hospitality industry excellence. The 453-room luxury hotel opened in 2008 following a $200 million redevelopment of the historic hotel that originally opened in 1924. The Book joins 14 other AAA Four-Diamond hotels in Michigan including its sister properties in Southfield and at Detroit's Metro Airport.
"We are pleased and honored to be awarded the AAA Four-Diamond distinction," said Westin Book Cadillac General Manager Tim Freisen. "We are most proud of our associates who make a standard of excellence their priority every day." The Book has been recognized by several organizations including awards this year for best hotel by Hour Detroit, Michigan Meeting & Events, and Meetings Mid-America publications.
The AAA Four Diamond rating is assigned to lodgings that feature upscale accommodations and offer an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail. AAA inspectors evaluate and rate more than 58,000 lodgings and restaurants. Individually, they conduct more than 1,100 property evaluations per year.
