The recently refurbished hotel is recognized as the city's premiere address for national and international visitors as well as an iconic and popular local destination.

Lamer arrives at The St. Regis Houston after helming the successful opening of The Resort at Singer Island, a Starwood Luxury Collection Resort in Florida. Prior to Singer Island, Lamers led teams with the Ritz-Carlton chain in Boston and Philadelphia. Lamers also served as General Manager of The Jefferson Hotel, a Mobil 5 Star, AAA 5 Diamond historic hotel in Virginia. With over 20 years of hotel management experience in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S., Lamers brings an expert knowledge of the global traveler to one of the most international of cities, Houston.

HOUSTON, TX -- The St. Regis Houston, the AAA Five Diamond luxury hotel in Southeast Texas, is now welcoming guests into its world of newly defined elegance, opening the doors to 232 rooms and suites that have just undergone a $15 million, top-to-bottom refurbishment.
Quietly underway since the beginning of summer, 2008, the massive project moved one floor at a time, stripping rooms of furniture, appliances, wall coverings, carpets and fixtures. All rooms on the floors immediately above and below each construction level were also closed so no guests would be disturbed during construction.
Today, the last of the work complete, guests luxuriate in quarters that meld 21st century modern technology with the St. Regis brand of classic elegance. Each new room and suite has been re-designed and re-engineered for the modern traveler who still seeks the ultimate in luxury but expects the modern conveniences of the 21st century. Accented with an elegant, subtle Texas style, the rooms sport large, plush leather chairs, flat-screen televisions, state-of-the-art desks with full electronic connections and designer amenities that make confort and convenience priority.
Electrical wiring, heating and cooling systems were all re-engineered as well. The refurbishment also extends to hallways on each floor where new carpets, lighting and wall coverings were added.
First opened in 1982 as the Remington Hotel, the high-profile address became the St. Regis Houston in 2000. It won its first AAA Five Diamond Award in 2001 and has retained it ever since.
