Thursday, January 06, 2011
Timbers Resorts is pleased to present The Sebastian Vail, formerly the Vail Plaza Hotel & Club, in Vail, Colorado. Designated as a Member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, The Sebastian has officially opened as Vail's newest boutique hotel and residence club. Centrally located at the gateway to Vail Village, The Sebastian's location affords the privacy one covets during a vacation, yet remains only steps away from endless adventures on the slopes as well as numerous Vail restaurants, galleries, Vail bars and boutiques.
As the newest Vail boutique resort, The Sebastian unveils luxurious hotel rooms and private residence club accommodations; a new fine dining restaurant, Block 16; destination spa, Bloom; local hot spot, Frost Bar; a gourmet cafe, Market; 8,000 square feet of meeting and conference space; and a Private Residence Club comprised of 36 luxury residences.
"We have been looking for that perfect jewel in Vail, Colorado for many years and we are very excited to have found it here at The Sebastian," said David A. Burden, CEO & Founder of Timbers Resorts. "We have expanded our brand into hotel and restaurant management so that we can ensure the highest quality of standards and the experience that our owners and guests have come to expect from Timbers Resorts' properties worldwide."
Luxury hotelier Michael Oprish, former General Manager of Bernardus Lodge in Carmel, CA, was hired by Timbers Resorts and appointed General Manager of The Sebastian to direct and oversee all daily operations.

Dining
Inspired by Napa Valley and aptly named Block 16, with "block" referring to the specific lot of vineyard land sourcing the most pristine fruit, the new signature fine dining restaurant at The Sebastian showcases the best of farm-to-table fresh, seasonal, local and organic ingredients. Executive Chef Sergio Howland utilizes the best ingredients from Vail Valley and the surrounding regions to provide diners with a refreshing take on elegantly refined, unpretentious dining at the foot of the mountains. Block 16 will create simply prepared, ingredient-driven dishes thoughtfully paired with an extensive wine program central to the dining experience. The 1000-bottle wine silo will be the focal point of the dining ambiance.
Additionally, the new Frost Bar offers a selection of small bites and throwback cocktails for owners, hotel guests and the Vail community in a contemporary setting. Frost also includes the largest Scotch collection in the mountains. The Library, adjacent to Frost, serves as a welcoming place to gather year-round with elegant artwork and intriguing reads. Market, an artisan deli and provisioner, acts as the source for sundries and to-go items, as well as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Spa
Committed to supporting and nurturing a healthy lifestyle, Bloom Spa offers a full service menu of therapies, facials and nail care all with guests' active lifestyles in mind. The Spa is tastefully appointed and thoughtfully attended to ensure that each visit is peaceful, memorable and rejuvenating. The Spa is adorned with six treatment rooms including a couple's room, a hydrotherapy room, three massage rooms and a facial room. Additionally, steam rooms and saunas are located in the men and women's areas. In-suite services are also available as well as a pop-up Spa that will move to different locations within the hotel throughout the year.

First Newly Built Property to Grace Vail Village in 43 Years
Vail, CO (February 6, 2008) - Inspired by the grand hotels of the Italian Alps, Vail Plaza Hotel & Club, which opened it's door in December, is the first newly built property to open in Vail Village in 43 years, imbuing true Italian elegance and romance into the heart of the legendary ski village. 'Dolce Far Niente,' an Italian phrase extolling the virtues of a living a slower pace and enjoying life, is the underlying philosophy of Vail Plaza Hotel & Club.
"Guests can enjoy a reprieve from their busy lives, relax and feel as if they have escaped to the glory of the Italian Alps while enjoying the beauty and activities of the majestic Colorado Rockies," said Director of Sales and Marketing George Chumbley. "It's truly the best of both worlds."
Centrally located in Vail Village and surrounded by a vibrant pedestrian area with boutiques, restaurants, galleries and aprs-ski beacons, the privately-owned Vail Plaza Hotel & Club features 100 guestrooms and 38 suites. The suites and fractional ownership condos are comprised of elegantly furnished 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom residences and penthouses, all with unobstructed mountain views from decks and balconies.
The entry features an enclosed stone archway and exterior atrium for vehicles. Forty feet above, in the alpine-inspired lobby, a cantilevered cathedral ceiling with glass windows provides a breathtaking view to the skies while the fieldstone fireplace provides a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere. A pitched tile roof with dormered windows and copper accents are reminiscent of the mountain villages of the Italian Alps while locally quarried stone adds a Rocky Mountain personality. In addition, Vail Plaza Hotel & Club offers walk-to-lift access to Vail Mountain, as well as, easy access to hiking and biking trails. Vail Golf Club, with spectacular views of Gore Range, is just a half mile away.
The luxury of Italian design permeates the property including the furnishings and treatments, guestrooms, restaurants, spa and conference facilities. The guestrooms feature custom-designed furnishings, luxurious fabrics, and concealed Roman Shades for the windows. Hardwood floors, granite countertops, and Italian tile are among the elegant design choices in the suites. All 38 residences have fireplaces and are equipped with full gourmet kitchens and dining rooms, double vanities in master baths with heated floors, standing showers and separate restrooms (in most plans), all with natural stone countertops and flooring. Details such as plush terrycloth bathrobes, Egyptian cotton sheets, and feather duvets add to the luxury experience in both guestrooms and residences. Other amenities include room service, Flat-screen televisions, Wireless Internet throughout the property, and Acca Kappa Italian bath products.
