Golf Digests Course-Rating Panel, a group of more than 800 low-handicap golfers, rated the resorts on various criteria, including quality of lodging, dining and golf. The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples received an overall score of 82.46, improving nearly five points from 2004 (77.69). Among the nine Florida-based properties listed, The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples easily outdistanced the nearest competitors, Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Spa (34) and the Breakers (40). Number one overall was Sea Island, The Cloister & The Lodge in Georgia, displacing Pebble Beach.
