HALF MOON BAY, CA - MAY 14, 2009 - Under the helm of new Spa Director, Randy Pierce, the 16,000 sq. ft. Ritz-Carlton Spa, Half Moon Bay is undergoing a rejuvenating face-lift. Not only has The Spa completed a soft-goods renovation with some new paint, furnishings and art work, but Pierce has put together a brand new menu of services that will be sure to delight and surprise guests, while staying true to Half Moon Bay favorites.

New Menu Highlights

Four Ways of Four Hands
The Spa has taken synchronized massage to a whole new level. While a synchronized massage is usually performed using just the Swedish technique, our team has created completely original protocols with the following massage techniques: Lomi-Lomi, Hot Stone, Thai and Hot Herbal Poultice.

First guests choose the massage they wish to experience. Next, warm oil is drizzled over the body while a decadent full-body massage is performed with two therapists flowing around the body, working in unison with their hands to bring total relaxation and pampering.

The Vineyard Manicure and Pedicure Experience
As part of the Santa Cruz Mountain wine region, wine continues to play an important role in our guests' experience at our Resort. An aromatic choice of Cabernet- or Chardonnay-scented product distinguishes this treatment from any other nail service. Guests will revel in this nail ritual that will leave hands and feet feeling renewed and rejuvenated as they enjoy a glass of wine, included with service.

Ocean Mist Stones Massage
Our new massage begins with an aromatic mimosa sugar scrub that will leave your skin soft and sinuous. Next, while under a continuous steamy-warm Vichy waterfall, mimosa oil is applied to your whole body, allowing heated stones to glide away tension and soothe aching muscles.

New Teen Offerings: Ritz-Teen Services & Princess Fizzing Manicure and Pedicures
Designed for young spa-goers visiting our Resort with mom or dad, The Spa now offers a Ritz-Teen Massage and Facial. The Massage provides teens with the benefits of a full-length massage, while helping to develop a life-long health-conscience attitude; the Facial offers a personal analysis, followed by a deep cleansing and a relaxing face and shoulder massage. Parent must be present for full treatment; available for teens 14 to 17 years of age.

Our Princess Fizzing Manicures and Pedicures offer a blend of miniature aromatherapy fizzing balls to soothe and tickle the hands and feet. Treatment also includes a light exfoliation, nail shaping, buffing and polish. Designed for the young spa-goer between the ages of 2 and 10; parent must be present for the full treatment.


Pumpkin & Lavender

Staying true to Half Moon Bay, The Spa will continue to offer treatments based on two of the main indigenous herbs from the area: pumpkin and lavender. Treatment options include the Half Moon Bay Facial, which utilize nourishing pumpkin enzymes; and our Half Moon Bay Signature Manicure and Pedicure, offering a choice of coastal lavender and pumpkin spice products to use during your treatment.

Spa Director - Randy Pierce

With 13 years experience in the spa industry, Randy Pierce joins The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Half Moon Bay from The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Orlando, Grande Lakes, where he served as spa operations manager for three years. In Orlando, he was responsible for the operation of the Resort's 40,000 sq. ft. Spa and overall management of all Spa employees.

Prior to joining The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Pierce worked for several resorts in Florida, including The Spa at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, FL for four years where he worked in various positions from spa front desk/reservations agent to spa guest service manager. Rounding out an extensive career in the industry, Pierce also held positions at The Spa at The Grand Floridian, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, FL and The Spa at Buena Vista Palace, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, FL.
