LA PALESTRA will call The Plaza home this fall, with a new state-of-the-art fitness center in the luxury hotel. The Plaza, New York City’s ultimate luxury destination, will offer iPads in all guest rooms and suites beginning in January 2011. The landmark hotel on Central Park South partnered with Orlando-based Intelity (www.intelitycorp.com) to become the first hotel in the world to provide guests services and room controls using iPads and Intelity’s ICE (Interactive Customer ExperienceTM) software to all of its guests.

The iPads feature a multimedia video welcome and provide guests easy, touch screen access to control their entire hotel experience. At the touch of a screen, guests will now be able to order room service, make restaurant reservations, communicate directly with the concierge, request wake-up calls, explore NYC destination guides, and even check airline schedules and print boarding passes. The devices are also pre-loaded with leisure and business friendly applications, and guests will also be able to browse the Web. The Plaza first started offering iPads for guests to use while dining in The Palm Court. Hotel managers quickly realized the popularity of the devices with guests, and decided to extend the program beyond the restaurant, into the guest room.
