Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Real-life ducks parade through The Peabody Little Rock's marble-clad lobby twice a day, a tradition begun at the original Peabody Memphis founded in 1869. The hotel's premier location next to the Statehouse Convention Center adds a somewhat more serious feather to its cap. Within walking distance of the Old Statehouse of Arkansas, the River Market, and Alltel Arena, the center holds 200,000 square feet of convention space.
The Peabody quickly became the state's top conference hotel when it opened in 2002. Favorite venues include a sweeping ballroom and terrace overlooking the Arkansas River and the Marion and Peck Rooms, ideal for executive meetings and VIP affairs. Delegates between sessions enjoy workouts at the fitness center, epicurean dining, and guest rooms reflecting the luxury and traditions of Little Rock's finest private homes.

This hotel has a very impressive lobby area and the Peabody Ducks are a must-see for everyone from the business customer to the leisure guest. I have had many group events at this property and the meeting facilities are quite nice.

The Peabody Hotel Group Promotes Gregg Herning to Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Monte Hansen Named General Manager for 418-room The Peabody Little Rock
Posted February 25, 2010
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Feb. 24, 2010) ¬ The Peabody Hotel Group announced today that Gregg Herning, general manager of The Peabody Little Rock, has been promoted within the company, and Monte Hansen, most recently general manager of The Greenbrier, has been named new general manager for the Peabody.
Effective immediately, Herning will serve as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Peabody Hotel Group and Director of Sales and Marketing for The Peabody Orlando. In his new role, Herning will oversee sales and marketing functions for the Peabody Hotel Group with direct responsibility for the 1,600-room expansion at the property in Orlando. Hansen, a former rooms director of The Peabody Memphis, returns to the company to continue the momentum of The Peabody Little Rock¹s recent success.
"Gregg Herning has been at the helm of significant achievements for our Little Rock property, most notably leading the hotel to earn the recent designation as Arkansas¹ first and only Forbes Four Star hotel," said Marty Belz, president and chief executive officer of the Peabody Hotel Group. "We look forward to Monte building on the legacy that Gregg provided us in Little Rock, and we are thrilled to recognize Gregg for his efforts with this well-deserved promotion in Orlando."
Hansen served as director of rooms at The Peabody Memphis from 2004 to 2007, driving quality service and achieving that property's Four Star designation while increasing overall departmental profit. In 2007, Hansen accepted a position as executive director of rooms at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia where he quickly rose to the position of general manager. He has served as general manager of The Greenbrier since July 2009.
The Peabody Orlando is undergoing a $450 million expansion to include over 250,000 square feet of function space, a new 22,000-square-foot Peabody Spa and Athletic Club, 13 entertainment options and a 2,100-car parking garage. Upon completion, The Peabody Orlando will be the 15th largest non-gaming hotel in the country.
