Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
Set against a backdrop of the majestic Colorado Rockies, The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center aims for the heights of meeting productivity in Englewood, Denver's high-tech corridor 20 minutes south of city center. Some of the most technologically advanced meeting facilities in the Rocky Mountains position the property in a class of its own—as do the extensive recreational offerings on 150 manicured acres. The 302 recently renovated guest rooms, a 4,500-square-foot full-service spa and fitness center, 18 holes of championship golf, six distinctive food and beverage outlets, plus tennis and year-round swimming combine to provide the perfect environment for work, play, or both.
Groups of 4 to 700 convene in meeting facilities adhering to IAC standards, a key component in the property's successful events. The 63,652 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space unfold in a purpose-built environment that optimizes the effective exchange of ideas, stimulates communication, and inspires creativity. Each of the 43 ergonomically designed meeting rooms offers wireless environmental control panels, natural light, and advanced acoustics. Thoughtful furnishings include Herman Miller Aeron chairs, tables with nonglare writing surfaces, tackable walls, and meeting supplies.
To simplify the planning process, the resort offers dedicated conference managers to oversee each event and comprehensive meeting packages to enable planners to focus on the true measure of a program's success—its content.

20/20 Vision Goes Back to See the Future at The Inverness
Posted May 8, 2009
CEO and Founder of Scanticon, Jrgen Roed Launched the Flagship of Modern Conference Design in 1989
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - If 20/20 hindsight provides the wisdom to see what could have been, what is it called when looking back 20 years actually provides a glimpse into modern day? To meeting planners and event coordinators, that revolutionary perspective is The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center, which was ingeniously designed by CEO and Founder Jrgen Roed 20 years ago. The hotel was the first property in south Denver to offer upscale accommodations and advanced conference facilities, unleashing an entirely new design concept for meetings. Twenty years later, it continues to exceed the ambitious industry standards it helped set two decades ago.
In designing the hotel, Roed elevated design's Golden Rule mantra of "form follows function" to previously unseen heights. He began with the unique concept of purpose-built learning environments fashioned after 10 years of scientific research findings on adult learning patterns. From here, he seamlessly integrated advanced technologies, such as fiber optics deployed underground, and learning enhancements, such as calming color palettes and plenty of natural light, with the simple style of Scandinavian design, which emphasises beautiful functionality. This idea is evidenced when entering the lobby, by the way the property intersects public areas with the distinct hallways or wings dedicated to a specific purpose - meetings, dining, recreation and lodging.
Many of today's standard meeting requirements, such as A/V equipment, remote controlled ambient features, including lighting, automatic drapes, live video simulcast, and a myriad of other sophisticated features, didn't commonly exist until Roed included them in the design of what is now The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center. Perhaps one of the most astounding features that speak volumes about Roed's foresight into future technical needs is the amazing fiber-optic infrastructure that he collaborated with BetaWest, a subsidiary of US West, to integrate into the hotel's design. Hundreds of feet of cable interconnect the hotel and support wired and wireless Internet connections throughout all meeting rooms, common areas and guestrooms. Revolutionary for its time, today, this ingenious 20-year old telecommunications infrastructure still outperforms modern day hotel and conference centers and leaves room for growth with the hotel tapping only a portion of its dedicated bandwidth capacity.
Other design elements of distinction include:
Advanced Business Center, located in the heart of the meeting conference wing, provides on-demand technical support and easy access to business services
Special attention to finer in-room details such as the ledge on the push-pin board is angled at 90 degrees for optimal display and viewing; the white board ledge is angled at 35 degrees to place a pen effortlessly or easily roll it into the palm of the hand
Innovative seating arrangement layouts to balance personal workspace, social interaction and learning
Floor-to-ceiling windows in each conference room to help attendees take a visual mental break and refocus
All-inclusive 302 guestroom resort provides a balanced work/play approach with a PGA golf course; a full-service spa; five dining venues, and more than 60,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor meeting space
The physical design is only one component of the hotel's commitment to assisting planners create a successful meeting. The hotel offers value-focused Conference Meeting Packages (CMP) that bundle services and food and beverage to maximize budget. Each CMP boasts a continuous light F&B break and breakfast, a three-hour lunch or dinner window that allows attendees to eat at their pace with minimal interruption. As the only AAA Four Diamond, IAAC certified hotel in the greater Denver area, Scanticon now known as The Inverness Hotel and Conference Center not only helped shape the meetings industry into what it is today, but it also contributed to history-in-the-making by serving as the venue of choice for key presidential and dignitary gatherings and influential business announcements such as:

The Inverness Hotel Completes $9 Million Renovation and Adds New Spa
Posted November 26, 2007
New Spa delivers a destination spa experience in a convenient urban locale.
Twenty-five minutes. A small sliver of time to part from the BlackBerry, work routine or business meeting to enjoy some "me time." That is the premise behind the new express services available at The Spa at The Inverness Hotel, a Destination Hotels & Resorts property. The newly constructed 4,500-square-foot spa is the centerpiece and final phase of the hotel's 15-month, $9 million renovation effort. Styled in contemporary elegance, each component of this makeover, including guestrooms, restaurants conference facilities and the new spa, update the hotel's image to reflect a more modern and upscale Colorado lifestyle. The addition of the spa diversifies the hotel's suite of services and strengthens its position as the premiere hotel for both business and leisure gatherings.
Sparkling new, the spa features six individual treatment rooms and a couple's suite for various soothing massages, soaks, facials, wraps, scrubs and signature body treatments. The express spa treatments are all 25 minutes and guests that select from this menu will enjoy preferred seating at all five of the hotel's restaurants or the opportunity to pre-order a meal to go for an additional cost. Added amenities include a relaxation suite, men's and women's locker rooms, a private outdoor hot tub and fireplace, as well as entree to the hotel's various facilities such as pool, fitness center, tennis courts, outdoor garden and boutique shops. The express service line complements the Spa's full-service menu and is available regular spa hours (8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.). Although advance reservations are recommended, drop-in guests are welcome based on availability.
"We all go the extra mile each day, whether it's at work, at home with the kids or on a business trip; but more often than not, we don't reward ourselves for that extra effort," said Katie Pederson, spa director at The Inverness Hotel. "Our express services aim to rectify that life imbalance and offer the overburdened multitudes a convenient urban retreat to achieve physical renewal, inner balance and an escape for just a little while."
With the opening of The Spa, The Inverness Hotel's renovation efforts are complete. All 302 guestrooms and suites were appointed with a luxurious bedding package, contemporary lighting and dcor and new window treatments to reflect an upscale yet comfortable Colorado lifestyle. Denver dining icon The Swan, was transformed with tremendous success into Baca, a casually upscale dinner locale serving authentic Colorado cuisine with a Spanish flair. The Inverness remade its casual dining experience into The Spotted Dog, an English Pub-themed eatery that emphasizes social interaction with a variety of traditional pub games and activities. Conference facilities were also improved with upgraded audiovisual equipment, more than 900 new ergonomic Herman Miller Aeron chairs, as well as new carpet and upgraded tackable wall surfaces.
