Lovely room product. Meeting space is standard but does have an indoor amphitheater that can be used for unique F&B functions. Standard Fairmont product and service.

My fourth conference at the Fairmont Southhampton—and it was fantastic. All of the Southampton managers I work with are excellent every year. This conference was touted as the best conference ever.

Daily Bread
Posted July 23, 2010
HAMILTON, BERMUDA, July 22, 2010 - The Eliza DoLittle Society announces the launch of Daily Bread, a year-round, daily food assistance programme that has been created to feed the estimated 3,500 residents with a hunger problem. Fairmont Bermuda will serve as a Daily Bread leading sponsor and has guaranteed the first month's supply of food.
Daily Bread will feed those in need across the island. Meals will be served through the Warwick Ministerial Alliance, West End Ministerial Alliance in Southampton and Sandys parishes and the Mid Atlantic Wellness Institute in Devonshire on a rotating basis. Following the first month of the programme Fairmont Bermuda will continue to donate excess fresh food that would otherwise go to waste. Other agencies, churches and community centres across the parishes will be added as the programme expands its services. All meals served are free to anyone who requests them and will be available once a day, seven days a week.
The pilot programme will take place from September 7 through 19 and the full programme will commence services on September 20. During the summer, Daily Bread will organise driver orientation, food handling and advanced vehicle safety course training as well as Safe Food Handling training for volunteers.

"We have, for years, wanted to do something more meaningful for the needy, hungry and homeless of Bermuda, over and above feeding around Christmas and the holidays," says Tony Forster, co-founder and chairman of The Eliza DoLittle Society. "We have modelled this programme on Toronto's 'Second Harvest', a hugely effective daily food delivery programme that has operated successfully for more than 25 years, delivering surplus food to 250 agencies, churches, drop-in centres, schools and homeless shelters. We are delighted to offer such a programme in Bermuda to assist against the plight of hunger. On behalf of Bermuda's homeless, I would especially like to thank Fairmont, Allied World Assurance Company and Hiscox amongst other kind donors for their generous support and caring nature."
"Fairmont is proud to be a part of an initiative that will help those Bermudians who so urgently need our assistance," says Norman Mastalir, managing director of Fairmont Bermuda. "The current economy has made the provision of basic sustenance challenging. We are honoured to be working with the Eliza DoLittle Society on the Daily Bread programme to provide a basic meal to those who need it most."
Companies, organizations or individuals are encouraged to participate in the Daily Bread programme by donating food, volunteering time or providing financial assistance. Those interested in learning more may call the M3 Bread Line at 333-GIVE (4483) or visit www.elizadolittle.com.
Allied World Assurance Company has provided an office, food hampers as well as a refrigerated Isuzu truck to be used for deliveries. Hiscox has paid for Daily Bread's first Van, which was delivered last week.
The Eliza DoLittle Society is dedicated to creating and providing the ways and means to help homeless and needy people with humanitarian and lifestyle redirection and is a registered Bermuda charity whose aim is to feed and otherwise care for needy people.

FAIRMONT HOTELS & RESORTS ENCOURAGES SUPPORT OF SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD
Posted May 10, 2010
HAMILTON, BERMUDA, March 30, 2010 - The Fairmont Southampton and The Fairmont Hamilton Princess are joining 60 Fairmont Hotels & Resorts across the globe to raise awareness and funds to protect the world's waters throughout the month of April. Fairmont's restaurants will serve up their favourite sustainable seafood entrees, while restaurant guests will be invited to donate $1 to the National Geographic Society (NGS) in support of ocean conservation and the restoration of living marine resources.
Following on the heels of World Wildlife Fund's (WWF's) Earth Hour on March 27 and to complement Earth Day on April 22, Fairmont will use the month of April to focus on water sustainability and the world's oceans, which cover more than 70 percent of the Earth's surface.
With a long commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible tourism, Fairmont is a sponsor of National Geographic Mission Programmes as well as a member of the WWF global Climate Savers Programme. For the past two decades, Fairmont has upheld its pledge to preserve the places in which it lives, works and plays. Fairmont's Green Partnership programme was launched in 1990-an industry-leading initiative to reduce the luxury hotel chain's impact on the environment through energy efficiency, water conservation and waste management.
In 2008, Fairmont's hotels and resorts worldwide removed threatened fish species such as Chilean Sea Bass and Bluefin Tuna from their restaurant menus.
"In Bermuda, we have a partnership with SeaChoice, a sustainable seafood programme based in Canada, which advises us on the seafood we offer in our menus, so that Fairmont guests continue to be provided with a comprehensive selection of sustainable seafood choices," says Christopher Chafe, executive chef, The Fairmont Southampton.
Chef Chafe continues, "Locally, we limit our seafood purchases to four local fishermen who understand and abide by Fairmont's commitment to sustainable seafood. In the United States, we buy from Foley's in Boston, a designated sustainable seafood company that sources its seafood only from sustainable sources."
Put into practice, Fairmont's commitment to ocean sustainability means working with reputable suppliers who purchase fish that are resilient to fishing pressure and harvested in ways that limit damage to marine or aquatic habitats. The end result: healthier practices flowing down to suppliers, who then offer better choices to restaurants. In addition, by promoting awareness and sustainable alternatives among its guests, Fairmont hopes to play a role in influencing and shaping the tastes and preferences of guests who care about the future of the planet.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts' dedication to the protection of the environment goes well beyond helping conserve species that reside in the sea. On a wide-ranging basis, Fairmont maintains a comprehensive commitment to purchasing local, organic and sustainable food items whenever possible.
Thomas Frost, Executive Chef, The Fairmont Hamilton Princess, concludes, "It's important to note that good environmental practices do not mean guests at Fairmont restaurants miss out on world-class cuisine. Rather, they feast on various fish caught or sourced in ways that ensure their continued survival."

On March 5-7, The Fairmont Southampton will offer a Willow Stream Live Healthy Bermuda Weekend, perfect for anyone looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle in 2010. In conjunction with the Live Healthy Bermuda 100-Day Challenge, this weekend of wellness activities includes a Friday evening cooking demonstration and dinner including a healthy shopping discussion; Saturday morning yoga at the beach followed by breakfast; an aqua-aerobics class; a 60-minute Willow Stream Spa treatment and Sunday morning Boot Camp workout on the beach followed by breakfast. This weekend of wellness includes two nights' accommodation and is available from $459 per person based on double occupancy in a Fairmont Room.

"We're excited to be introducing the Live Healthy Bermuda Fitness Fest and Spa Weekend this year," said Shelley Meszoly, regional director of sales and marketing, Fairmont Bermuda. "Staying on course during a diet and exercise regimen is always a challenge. We hope these Fairmont additions will help keep participants focused on their goals and provide motivation along the way. For those who want to dine out but don't want to stray too far from their eating plans, we encourage them to join us at Fairmont for a delicious Live Healthy Bermuda meal. During the spa weekend, we will show everyone how easy it can be to cook wholesome, nutritious food at home; share shopping tips for a healthier pantry and focus on mind, body and soul through exercise, spa care and relaxation."

"We are so pleased to have supportive partners who help us to create build community motivation," said Sarah Burrows, vice-president, Live Healthy Bermuda. "Fairmont is using its vision not simply to do business, but also to support the well-being of the people of this community. We thank them for creating these unique events for Live Healthy Bermuda participants."

And again this year, the Fairmont hotels will engage in a bit of friendly rivalry during the Live Healthy Bermuda 100-Day Challenge, with eight teams from The Fairmont Southampton set to compete against three teams at The Fairmont Hamilton Princess to see who can achieve the greatest progress towards good health.
