Elite Overview
From the editors of Elite Meetings
The Claremont Resort and Spa, located in the Berkeley Hills of California, overlooks the San Francisco Bay. Designed after an English estate, the four-diamond resort includes 279 stately and distinctive guest rooms and suites that balance historic charm with California comfort.
Well-suited for business incentives or high-end meetings, The Claremont features 24 separate meeting spaces including The Living Room, a residential-style meeting room ideal for brainstorming sessions in a relaxed setting. An on-site ropes course, fitness breaks, an acclaimed spa, lighted tennis courts, health club, and award-winning dining at Jordan's restaurant help meeting planners round out the agenda without ever stepping off-site. But The Claremont's location also places guests within an easy distance of Napa Valley's scenic wine country and San Francisco's many starring attractions.
Planner Reviews

Overall Rating: 9.0/10
I have used the Claremont for Board meetings as well as special dinners. The hotel has a nice charm about it and very warm and welcoming. The meeting space I have used has been great and the staff are very accommodating to work within our limited University budget. Food is good. It is convenient to the Bay Area/SF.
Hotel has a Spa and Pool Clubhouse. Many nice features.

Yeah - the hotel really did renovate and they did a great job. The attitude of the staff could not be better. They take pride in their job and their work. You can feel the service oriented attitude. The manager of the hotel gets very involved with the program on a daily basis. They let a meeting planner do things that other hotels will not let you do so it gives you the flexibility of being more creative. The conference service person is someone who takes a personal interest and is a true partner. And their new chef is the best. I just hope they don't let him leave as his food, personality and energy is such an asset to a conference. You are near the city but not that far. NO hotel has such great meeting space for breakouts and areas where you can move from a dining experience to the meeting space. Grady Jean, the sales contact is a true gentleman and a delight to work with. He is very responsive, cares and does his best to meet your needs. He stays with you during your program. You can count on him because he cares. Call him today.

Conducted a post-renovation site visit. Public areas are nicely done. The recreational facilities are incredible (3 pools, 10 tennis courts, large fitness center, and Kinesis equipment) and the spa is very well done. The resort has a very welcoming vibe. Everyone is friendly. Even though the hotel itself is historic, it's by no means stuffy or pretentious. Great views (and natural light) from most meeting rooms. Food is superb. They are about to open Meritage restaurant and have a great chef, in keeping with the culinary reputation of of the entire Berkeley area. The rooms have been freshly renovated, but still have a traditional feeling. Each room has a distinct design due to the Old World architecture and decor is traditional. Rooms probably won't appeal to those who insist on modern or minimalist design. Location is excellent and the staff and facilities get a 10.

I haven't been here in a few years so not sure if they've done any renovations but when I was there I felt like the property was run down. However, I've been to this property several times and have always experienced great customer service from everyone.

I have booked this entire hotel for several years, plus smaller groups. They have a great attitude and want to make the meeting planner happy. Even the top management gets involved. The hotel is finally doing renovations. I hope they complete them as I have been waiting. The rooms are all different, but OK. They are flexible with the meeting planner and the catering director is the BEST. I am so glad she is there to make things happen. The spa, tennis courts, pools, gym - all great for large or small groups.
