Elite Overview

Built in 1909, the nine-story Sheraton Gunter Hotel San Antonio overlooks San Antonio's River Walk and Majestic Theatre across the street. While a recent $8-million investment polished everything, and updated the technology, the hotel maintains an aura of the days when Texas oil and cattle barons made the city's grandest hotel their second home. The lobby still features the original barbershop, for instance, along with its switchboard and a photo of cowboy star Tom Mix checking in on his horse.
Groups of 10 to 500 people gather in 13 conference rooms and one grand ballroom, all overseen by specialists trained in the Sheraton standard of excellence. Guests enjoy breaks at the pool and fitness center; fine dining at Barron's; drinks and hors d'oeuvres at McLeod's; and fabulous baked goods, sandwiches, and Starbuck's from the Gunter Bakery.
