The beach at the Sanctuary was wonderful to admire shells, but not a good place to swim in the ocean. The staff is young and inexperienced, where the sister property has a much more seasoned staff. The on-site seafood restaurant was casual and the food was good, however the price points for entrees and beverages, including lunch on the beach, were high. Plus the resort did not provide bottled water in the rooms for free. I found out with my bill that Fiji water (small bottle) was $7 each! and the regular bottled water was $5 each, these were the waters they stocked in the room, in the bathroom, and in the refrigerator. I am used to complimentary bottled water, and a regular charge for brands of water, not $7!
Nearby, (a short shuttle ride) The Caleton Beach Club was absolutely wonderful and was the highlight of the trip, from dining to the beach to the attention to detail and service. At Caleton, the price points were much better, including on the beach, they were less. We would have preferred more "local" food selections, rather than American cuisine--hamburgers, fries, and club sandwiches. The ceviche was amazing.
Cap Cana is still under construction, and experience comes with time, both contributed to my scoring. The price point for the room was high, taking that all into account. I was also irritated with the \"no alcohol charge\" that was added to each of my meals. After this first weekend experience I would bring a group to Cap Cana again, and would vacation there again. (of course for the right price)
