Groups at Santa Barbara’s San Ysidro Ranch tap into a deep well of California romance and history. The ocean view commanded the attention of Winston Churchill for three months in 1913. Vivien Leigh and Laurence Olivier married at midnight in the garden in 1940. In 1953, John and Jackie Kennedy honeymooned in the cottage that now bears their name.
The culmination of a three-year, $150-million restoration and enhancement opened a new chapter at the ranch last year, thanks to new ownership by Ty Warner Hotels & Resorts and management by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.
The largest venue, Colman Cottage, entertains groups of up to 50 with residential warmth and wireless Internet access, an overhead projector, retractable screen, and full audio functions. French doors open to a patio ideal for outdoor events catered by the highly acclaimed Stonehouse restaurant. Just steps away, the Old Adobe—a California landmark dating to 1825—promises a history-making meeting or dining experience for up to 10. Meanwhile, the Wine Cellar adds another patio and private dining or meeting room for up to 20.
VIPs seeking the ultimate lodgings request the Warner Cottage, whose highlights include a hospitality area and three stone fireplaces, two master suites, and a 33-foot oval swimming pool. All of the suites and cottages reward guests with private sundecks, hot tubs, outdoor rain showers, and a sumptuous menu of in-room spa treatments.

Our presidential retreat to San Ysidro Ranch was outstanding—you exceeded all of our expectations! Our guests left asking how we would ever top this trip because everything from service to guest rooms to catering was fabulous.

Loved The Ranch!
I stayed in the Lantana Suite (Junior Suite) which offered views of the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. The outdoor hot tub and adjacent rain shower outside were the perfect diversion.
The bathroom was top-notch and offered a heated floor, dual vanities, a huge claw-foot tub, and separate shower.
The bedroom had a flat panel TV, gas fireplace, and a bed that was so comfortable that it seemed to have a gravitational pull.
The snacks (included with the room) were from mostly local companies. Nice touch. And the turn down service included two truffles from a local favorite, Wendy Foster. Delicious!
What really stood out was the service. I parked right in front of my suite but a bellman guided me through the property to the correct location. And showed me each feature of the room. Thank you!
I highly recommend this fabulous boutique location to anyone. I imagine it would be the perfect buyout location.
