ROSEWOOD SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE CELEBRATES CITY’S UNIQUE HERITAGE WITH SIGNATURE CULINARY PROGRAM
Posted May 5, 2011
For Immediate Release (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico) – The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende brings a new culinary sensibility and variety to the historic town with its commitment to sustainability as well as gastronomic excellence. Led by Executive Chef Carlos Hannon, the resort sources the best in fresh ingredients from local non-profit organization Via Organica while also featuring one of only six tequila masters in the world along with an impressive collection of 140 fine tequilas and mescals. The result is distinctive yet contemporary Mexican and Spanish flavors throughout the resort’s restaurant and lounges.
1826 Restaurant
In 1826, the town adopted the name San Miguel de Allende in honor of Mexican Independence hero Ignacio de Allende. At the resort's signature restaurant, 1826, the country's heritage, as well as San Miguel’s farm-to-table philosophy, is continually celebrated with traditional and innovative Mexican culinary expressions that highlight the abundance of fresh products grown locally, as well as in the restaurant’s own garden. Large French windows open to the terrace and wisps of cool mountain air breathe softly across the room and resplendent art pieces glow in the soft light. Guests enjoy a choice of dining al fresco on the patio amid the vibrant gardens surrounding “La Casona” or indoors in proximity to the restaurant's bustling centerpiece, the artisan open kitchen.
1826 Tequila Bar
Located directly across from 1826, the 1826 Tequila Bar offers more than 120 labels of tequila and over 20 different mescals. Unequivocally colonial in style, the Bar’s dark woods and stone fireplace provide a warm interior ambience. On the exterior terrace, guests can relax with a premium tequila, mezcal, a classic malt or signature cocktail in the cool evening breeze. The Bar features one of only six tequila masters in the world, Raymundo Vazquez, who assists guests with pairings for dinners as well as tequila tastings that help guests understand the process, traditions and folklore behind the Bar’s vast selection of tequilas.
Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar
The perfect place to enjoy a beautiful sunset and panoramic views of La Parroquia and the city after an exciting day in San Miguel, Luna serves up savory authentic international tapas that can be enjoyed individually or family style in an al fresco setting. At Luna guests can enjoy locally brewed “Cerveza de San Miguel” as well as an excellent selection of Mexican and foreign wines by the glass or by the bottle.
La Cava
For guests seeking a truly unique and exclusive environment for private gatherings, the resort’s beautiful 2,000-bottle wine room, La Cava, is available by special arrangement. Surrounded by unparalleled vintage wines and premium tequilas, food and wine lovers will be pampered by the chef and sommelier with special tasting menus and fine wine pairings. La Cava is available for a minimum of six guests up to a maximum of 14 for dinner only.
AGUA
The resort’s casual poolside restaurant and bar allows guests to take full advantage of San Miguel’s warm sun along with an all-day array of light dishes, Mexican snacks, burgers and sandwiches plus refreshing beverages such as fresh fruit smoothies, milkshakes, margaritas or specialty cocktails.
Room Service
Guests can enjoy restaurant quality food at any time of the day in the privacy and comfort of their own room or terrace, under the San Miguel stars.
