Hurricane policy for:
Zotry Wellness & Spa Resorts
Secrets Resorts & Spas
Dreams Resorts & Spas
Now Resorts & Spas
Greetings Manuel,
As has been our foul weather policy in the past, we feel it is prudent to be proactive and prepared, as well as remind you of our hurricane policy. The security and safety of our guests is always, and remains, the highest priority so rest assured we will keep the in-house guests informed prior, during and after any emergency situations.
Please be advised that our hurricane policy goes into effect once the U.S. National Hurricane Weather Center has issued an official Hurricane Warning for the destination. The policy is not in effect with Tropical Storm Warnings or Tropical Storm Watches; only Hurricane Warnings. Guests checking out early or prior to the official notification may not be compensated.
The National Hurricane Center hurricane condition definitions* are as follows:
Basic Definitions: The National Weather Service issues a variety of products to keep our customers informed of unusual, inconvenient and hazardous weather conditions. A multi-tier concept is employed to accomplish this task with Outlooks, Watches, Warnings and Advisories to point out specific conditions.
Outlook:
Used to give considerable lead time that a hazardous event may develop.
Watch:
Issued when the risk of a hazardous weather or hydrologic event has increased significantly, but its occurrence, location, and/or timing is still uncertain. It is intended to provide enough lead time so those who need to set their plans in motion can do so.
Warning:
Issued when a hazardous event is occurring or has a very high probability of occurrence. Warnings advise of a threat to life or property.
Advisory:
Issued when a hazardous event is occurring or has a very high probability of occurrence. Advisories describe events that cause significant inconvenience.
*as defined by the National Hurricane Weather Center website (NOAA)
