Montecito Inn opened in Santa Barbara, California, in 1928, largely bankrolled by Charlie Chaplin—the legendary actor, producer, and director who often invited friends to join him on escapes from Hollywood 90 miles to the south. Chaplin's movie posters ornament the newly renovated lobby and hallways, a life-size statue of the Little Tramp guards the elevator, and Chaplin's face even appears on the chocolates guests find on their pillows after nightly turndown.
His silhouette on a frosted-glass door marks the entrance to a conference room hosting up to 56 people near the pool. The multipurpose room comes with a selection of audiovisual equipment, complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access, and a full kitchen for catered affairs. One door down, a business center stands by with a fax machine, copier, and two computer workstations.
Delegates between meetings unwind in a choice of 52 guest rooms and nine luxury suites. They work out in the fitness room, soak up the sun by the pool, enjoy cocktails at the hotel's bar, and dine on market-fresh cuisine at its popular restaurant. Those with time to spare stroll five minutes to Butterfly Beach, shop or dine in the upscale neighborhood, or hop the sightseeing trolley to visit Santa Barbara's renowned mission, wharf, and other world-famous attractions. Meanwhile, championship golf, tennis, surfing, whale watching, and wine tasting wait just minutes away.
