Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre ‘entertains’ its guests
Posted January 9, 2012
Introduction guest friendly and extensive hotel tv-system in the room
The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre offers its guests a unique tv-system in the room as of 9 January. Through this system the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre delivers its guests hotel information and a package of more than 90 tv-channels. Unique features are digital recording and the access to the latest movies. The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre is the first hotel in the Netherlands that offers this tv-system. They developed it in cooperation with UPC Business, daughter of cable and media company UPC Netherlands.
Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam offers its guests through the tv-system, among other things, more than 90 TV channels in digital quality, the latest news via CNN, Nu.nl and Bild and access to an on demand movie library with the latest movies. Mövenpick ensures that programs of the 15 most popular tv channels are available for a few days. In addition, guests can record programs by themselves. After departure, the recordings will be deleted automatically. With a user-friendly remote control and the energy-saving Philips LED flat screen TVs, Mövenpick would like to maximize the ease of use of the system for its guests.
Guests can also call up hotel information and entertainment on the tv screen. This should lead to a reduction of paper consumption.
Director of Operations Benelux at Mövenpick Hotels and also General Manager of the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre, Albert Rouwendal sees the new hotel tv-system in the rooms of the hotel as a proof that Mövenpick has created ultimate hospitality as one of the spearheads of its policy. "Today’s guest wants to be informed and entertained continuously. And all that in a very accessible and user-friendly manner. We are proud that we, as first hotel in the Netherlands, have developed this system in cooperation with UPC Business and are able to offer this to our guests. "
Mövenpick Hotels in the Netherlands receive Green Globe Certification
Posted October 1, 2011
All three Mövenpick hotels in the Netherlands (Voorburg, Den Bosch en Amsterdam) have been awarded, as the first hotels in operation in the Netherlands with the official and internationally acknowledged Green Globe Certification. The prestigious certifica
The Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre is already Green Key certified however, as part of the company‟s goal to establish a common and global approach to environmental, employer and social sustainability, its personnel pushed the boundaries even further to obtain the Green Globe certification.
More than a certification process, Green Globe involves all members of the staff with online trainings as well as „dialogue‟ sessions. These are discussion fora where each member of the staff gets to reflect and share his or her ideas on saving energy or water, limit waste and procure food and beverage in a sustainable way.
Further than focusing on the environment, the Green Globe certification requires fulfilling social sustainability requirements. Criteria such as fair treatment of employees, involvement and support of the local community, training in all departments, giving people access to the resources they need to provide for their families, are all part of the social sustainability.
All three Mövenpick hotels in the Netherlands were assisted in the process by Duurzame Hotels Nederland (www.duurzamehotels.nl) which performed the necessary audits to help the hotel identify applicable criteria and meet and exceed the criteria to gain certification.
Director of Operations Benelux of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Albert Rouwendal was delighted with the recognition. “This prestigious certification of our hotels is a great recognition of our endeavors within the chain to pursue sustainability in all aspects of the operations. The audit process was absolutely no walk in the park. Hence my pride in this achievement, accomplished by all members of staff, for which I am very grateful”.
During the Green Globe certification project all three Mövenpick hotels were managed by Duurzame Hotels Nederland, specialist in sustainable business for the hotel industry. Sarah Jenny, General Manager, says about the collaboration: "We are proud that these three hotels out of the Mövenpick chain are the first in Europe to have reached the Green Globe certification. It is impressive to see the efficiency with which they incorporated sustainability measures into their processes, throughout the Mövenpick chain”.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts launches re-designed mobile website
Posted January 27, 2011
Upgraded portal features more content and user - friendly touches
The portal, accessible through all popular smartphones, has combined theme
and destination hotel searches for added convenience.
Additional content includes information on conferencing facilities, Spa and
Wellness and leisure activities, and picture galleries displaying food and
beverage, business and leisure services.
Guests can book, call or contact each property in the Swiss chain’s 69-
property network and find links to Google maps if they need on-the-ground
directions.
Heiko Siebert, Vice-President Distribution for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts
said a strong focus on further developing the mobile website was a logical
next step, following the success of its corporate website.
“As the use of the Internet through mobile devices will continue to increase,
we had two main goals for this project, namely, an additional service for our
guests seeking information about our hotels while on the road, and offering
a new marketing and booking platform,” he said.
The mobile website, developed by Ray Sono, is also integrated with eight
leading social media channels, enabling guests to communicate with friends,
family or business contacts, or share comments or pictures about their
experiences.
Guests cited user friendliness, updates, content, presentation clarity and
access speed as the most important criteria for mobile websites.
