The Loews Philadelphia Hotel occupies Market Street's beloved Philadelphia Saving Fund Society Building, built in 1932 as the first ultramodern international-style skyscraper in the country. Guests staying on the concierge levels—floors 29 and above—can see the 27-ton cast-iron statue of William Penn crowning City Hall nearby. Even closer neighbors, the Reading Terminal Market and Pennsylvania Convention Center, wait barely a block away.
The landmark building contains 583 guest rooms and suites, a popular seafood restaurant and lounge, spa and fitness center, and 42,000 square feet of function space spread over three ballrooms and 14 meeting rooms. Floor 33 features the bank's original boardroom, lovingly restored right down to some of its original furnishings and adjoining a large terrace focused on the City of Brotherly Love spread out at delegates' feet.
