Las Ventanas al Paraíso Selects Peter Burwash Int'l to Direct the Resort Tennis Program
Posted December 9, 2009
Las Ventanas al Paraíso, A Rosewood Resort has selected Peter Burwash International, the world's leading tennis instruction and management company, to direct the Five Diamond resort's exclusive tennis program.

"Peter Burwash International's reputation for world-class tennis programs and outstanding service is a perfect match with Las Ventanas," said Managing Director Lionel Alvarez. "The relationship combines our passion for delivering the ultimate guest experience with PBI's ability to bring a new dimension of excitement and quality to our guest activities."

Overseeing the program at Las Ventanas is PBI tennis professional Claudio Bravo, who has many years of experience in all facets of the game, from winning high school state championships and competing at the college varsity level to teaching at tennis academies, tennis clubs and resorts. Most recently, he oversaw the PBI tennis program at Reynolds Plantation in Georgia, providing the PBI-brand of personalized instructional and social programs for the club membership as well as guests of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

The addition of PBI's world-class instruction is another key component to a tennis program that sets industry standards. Las Ventanas, the only Five Diamond resort in the destination of Los Cabos, is known for its special touches and attention to detail that delight guests, and the resort's unique pampering is offered on the courts, too. A court attendant is on duty to provide a full array of complimentary services, from retrieving balls for guests as at a professional tournament, to ensuring that guests remain cool and comfortable by providing cold towels and Evian spray mists, to offering light refreshments such as bottled water and fresh fruit. A large Mexican palapa (a natural umbrella made of thatched and woven palm fronds), sheltering a table and chairs, provides a shady place for guests to rest between sets. The facilities comprise two hard-surface courts with excellent lighting so guests can opt to play in the cool evenings.

PBI has also directs the tennis program for two sister Rosewood properties in the Caribbean: Caneel Bay and Little Dix Bay.

Founded in 1975, Peter Burwash International specializes in program development, marketing, management and daily tennis activities for Five Star and Five Diamond resorts, hotels and tennis clubs worldwide. Recognized for world-class instruction and exceptional customer service, PBI currently directs tennis programs for 55 exclusive properties in North America, Hawaii, Asia, the Middle East, the Indian Ocean, Europe and the Caribbean. Las Ventanas has been among the world's most heralded resorts since it opened in 1997. It brought, for the first time, the highest international standards of luxury and service to Los Cabos and played a lead role in elevating it to Mexico's most upscale destination.

Las Ventanas features: 71 exceptionally spacious suites with exquisite furnishings, unique appointments hand-crafted by Mexican artisans, magnificent views and individual telescopes for stargazing; four different dining choices including signature Baja-Mediterranean cuisine at The Restaurant, 'Cocina del Fuego' at the Sea Grill cooked on wood-burning grills, Mexico's finest tequilas and most diverse ceviche menu at the Tequila & Ceviche Bar; a fusion of Japanese and Mexican culinary traditions and flavors at the Tequila & Sushi Bar; and the most extensive array of ultra-luxury amenities of any resort, from poolside butlers to a Department of Romance dedicated to making guests' romantic dreams come true. Forbes Traveler Honors Rosewood Properties with 10 Awards
Posted March 2, 2009
DALLAS - The annual ForbesTraveler 400 list which ranks the best luxury hotels and resorts in the world has just named San Ysidro Ranch, A Rosewood Resort in Montecito, California, as "America's Best Hotel." Visionary hotel owner Ty Warner purchased San Ysidro Ranch in 2000, who subsequently invested $150 million in an ambitious three year restoration to perfect an already outstanding property.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is thrilled to announce that a total of ten out of an eligible 14 properties from their esteemed collection were included on the ForbesTraveler 400 list. The list was compiled by a board of elite luxury travelers including Peter Greenberg, Todd English and Arianna Huffington, as well as top travel professionals like Matthew Upchurch of Virtuoso, Ltd. and Benson Cowan from Butterfield & Robinson. The Rosewood properties that were recognized as among the "Best in the World" include: The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel; Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek; Inn of the Anasazi, A Rosewood Hotel; Jumby Bay, A Rosewood Resort; Rosewood Little Dix Bay; Caneel Bay, A Rosewood Resort; Las Ventanas al Paraso, A Rosewood Resort. The Mansion on Peachtree, A Rosewood Hotel earned recognition as among the "World's 50 Best New Hotels."

ForbesTraveler praised these properties for their unparalleled service, a trademark of the Rosewood collection. The panel also recognized each one for their embodiment of their local culture. ForbesTraveler awarded San Ysidro Ranch with top honors by saying, "there's a particular charm to staying on a property with a long history that speaks to a region's character. And in the United States, there's no finer example than San Ysidro Ranch." The Carlyle is lauded as an "unabashedly Upper East Side establishment on Manhattan's Madison Avenue in perfect proximity to Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum and the shops of Madison and Fifth Avenues," while they explain that Inn of the Anasazi appears to be "the handiwork of a Pueblo tribe from the last century." This praise is a reflection of Rosewood's guiding philosophy, A Sense of Place which bestows each property with one-of-a-kind ambiance and style. Whether located in the heart of one of the world's great cities or in the splendid isolation of a tropical isle, each is designed to enhance every aspect of a guest's experience, by reflecting the location's culture, history and geography.

"We heartily congratulate all the Rosewood properties recognized," said Bob Boulogne, Chief Operating Officer of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. "Their inclusion on the ForbesTraveler 400 list recognizes all of the hard work, ingenuity and care they have put towards ensuring that guests have memorable stays."
