Business traveLlers discover a world of its own at Lajitas Golf Resort & Spa a private luxury estate in southwest Texas. Tucked away on 27,000 acres on the banks of Rio Grande, 300 miles from El Paso, the Western-style resort offers a secluded escape steeped in history and the modern luxuries discerning meeting guests expect. In fact, a 7,500-foot landing strip at the Lajitas International Airport allows coporate groups to fly in via private plane from most destinations. The resort also offers private transfers as well as scheduled air service from Midland, Dallas, Houston, or Austin aboard its own jet.

The 101 upscale rooms set throughout the property feature a variety of styles, from the cowboy chic of the Cavalry Post Cottages to the individuality of the Boardwalk Suites. Restaurants and bars with names like Candelilla Café and Thirsty Goat also bring guests a taste of the Old West.

The unique setting lends inspiration to meetings at the resort. Groups convene in 6,000 square feet of sophisticated conference space, including the Pavilion Ballroom for events of up to 200 guests, and the Ocotillo restaurant, featuring a 1,500-square-foot dining area as well as a private dining room for intimate gatherings. Outdoors, Lajitas Amphitheater and Star Gazer Mesa can accommodate between 500 to 1,000 guests.

Groups can take time out with a boardwalk shootout, a horseback ride down the Comanche Creek War Trail, or a West Texas barbecue on the resort’s antique chuckwagon. Happenings at Lajitas

We have so many projects in the works at Lajitas! We wanted to give you an overview of some of them:
1. Black Jack's Crossing Golf Course - Is coming right along and will open for Review on July 4, 2010. The Grand Opening is scheduled for mid September. The course is Par 72 and Yard 7081. It has a 5000 sq ft putting green, state-of-the-art full length driving range featuring 25 practice stations with Pro-V1 range balls, Club House, Pro Shop, GPS Equipped Golf Carts, and Club Rentals will be available. Come see for yourself the unbelievable design of Lanny Wadkins.

2. Maverick RV Park - has been undergoing an extensive renovation. It has added a full service check-in, new and improved landscaping, new signage, a new dog run, kitchen area in the club house, and new hosts to welcome all of our guest. Coming soon is our new Wilderness Camp Sites.

3. Lajitas Resort rooms have become more "family friendly" by converting 15 King rooms to new Queen/Queen rooms to welcome more families. Our Suites now have new chairs and pull out sleeper sofas. Rollaways are available upon request. We have also started our roof renovation project that will be completed by March.

4. Agave Spa was completely renovated last summer and we are excited to announce our new "Ultimate Big Bend Experience Package" Plan at least a day for this one! It offer the best of our specialty treatment, a Big Bend foot soak including reflexology, an 80 minute Ultimate Facial including an extra lip & eye treatment and an 80 minutes Specialty or Aromatherapy Massage.

5. Lajitas Equestrian Center continues to be an international attraction! We recently added a dust separation watering system and hope to attract more events, cattle drives and clinics. Our Stargazer Mesa continues to wow the crowds as one of the last real western cowboy campfire experiences.

6. We have introduced our local VIP program from now until June 30, 2010. We want to make our local partners are #1 priority. See the registration desk to sign up to get 10-25% discounts on sleeping rooms, food, shops, activates, spa and much more. It is our way of saying thank you for all of your support.

7. We are opening the Lajitas Grocery Store and Deli next door to the old Town Hall. Grand Opening is March 1, 2010

8. Our new Western store and Art Museum will be open March 1st at the Boardwalk shops next door to Red Rock Outfitters which will carry tack, saddle and Western appeal to name a few, as well as a Cowboy Art Gallery featuring local western artist and showcasing the works of Peter Robbins.

9. We are proud to announce that Kim (O.K.) Estes, National Cutting Horse Champion and our very own General Manager of our Equestrian Center, has set a new World's Record- the #1 World's Record Aoudad or Barbary Sheep (free range) taken with a handgun.

10. We are thrilled to announce that The Lajitas Resort will be featured on RFD-TV Larry Mahan's Equestrian Nation TV show on May 3rd.
